Mizzou Pitching

Assuming A&M holds on (up 11-4 in the 6th at the time of this post), who will start for Missouri and what's he got? Will Mizzou come with an 'all arms on deck' approach as we are likely to do?

Depending on how badly they want to try to win the trophy, Mizzou could either bring back their ace Kyle Gibson on short rest, or could go with mid-week starter Scooter Hicks. We definitely won't see Ian Berger or Nick Tepesch, who, like Ruffin and Jungmann, have pitched the last 2 games. We'll find out shortly.

I'm not expecting much from Mizzou's pitching staff today. They've gone to their pen a lot in this tournament, so if they can't get a decent start from whomever they decide to throw, they're in trouble.

I'm interested to see what Texas does as well. On one hand, I think it's important for our pen to get some more innings, since Austin Wood is the only one who's gotten any meaningful time. Austin Dicharry could probably use a confidence boost after his dreadful outing against Baylor.

Augie said Workman would start, and I think he could use several good innings, too, rather than just a 3-inning designated start. We're going to need more than just 3 quality starters in regionals and Omaha, and Workman has to prove he can be that 4th guy and give a solid 5 to 6 innings.

Boy, their pitchers sucked. It made me want to grab a bat, and I haven't played in over forty years. The first two guys today couldn't break a pane of glass.

I actually thought the Big 12 was stronger this year than it's been in a long time. The days of it being a 2-team conference of Texas and Nebraska are long gone.

The reason we only got 2 regional hosts is because we spent 10 weeks beating the crap out of each other. 7 of the 10 teams are in the RPI top 50, and the 8th team, Kansas, is at 52. This was a very tough league this year.
