Mitch Mustain is now 3rd string at usc

Definitely wasn't the best move for Mustain. He'd been a great fit for Bobby Petrino's offense. Oh well look a the bright side. Being in LA has to beat the pants off of living in Pigland.

He was about as decorated as they come out of H.S..

He then went on to an 8-0 record in the SEC as a true freshman. Arkansas "sucking" would only add to the accomplishment.

Either USC is stacked at QB in a manner in which is almost unfathomable or Mustain is digressing.

It's a head scratcher.

I'm sure a certain USC poster will be along shortly to explain that this is a result of Pete Carroll being an incompetent lunatic who gets good players and then refuses to use them correctly.

CBS College Sports (formerly CSTV) has been showing a ton of great SEC games the past few weeks. A couple of weekends ago I watched part of the Arkansas/Alabama game from 2 years ago. Mustain had a HORRIBLE game. Threw 3 picks and then in OT should have got picked again before the DB basically dropped it. Arkansas won b/c Alabama's kicker missed like 2 PTs and 3 FGs. It was sad.

But Mustain looked so bad that this doesn't surprise me. I have seen a little of Mustain and everything I have seen confuses me about how highly rated he was.

You are dead on accurate in your description of the Bama game. It was hands down the ugliest performance I have ever seen by any QB.

But at the end of the day he still won the game, was still 3 games removed from H.S., and under the leadership of a complete retard. Ultimately, be it luck or skill, he is still 8-0 as a starter.

With that said, like I said above, USC is either loaded beyond description at QB or Mustain has managed to become a
worse QB with better coaching. Who knows?

Our OC Steve Sarkisian makes $700,000 a year.

He's never been an OC before prior to Pete giving him the job.

Pete is heavily involved in the offense now. He's not bright enough to realize he's totally incompetent on the offensive side of the ball. His conservative, NFL mindset and offensive philosophy does not work in college.

Oh and Pete, in his one year as an offensive coordinator, was 3-9. Pete is a joke running the offense and he's got the choke collar wrapped tightly around his lackey Sark at all times.

Sark is the most overrated assistant in the country.

Oh and one more thing....our QB coach is Yogi Roth.

I'd like you all to look at Yogi's coaching credentials.

link here...

YOGI Roth, USC's QB coach

Don't let the GA job title fool you, he's our de facto QB coach. That idiot Sark can't handle the offense and QB duties. In fact you can see Yogi in all his glory here on USC's Mic'd Up (a glimpse at our coaches during games) Yogi's Mic'd up came vs last year's Stanford game......for those of us SC fans who don't have our heads in our asses, this has been a real treat, it's one of my favorites on youtube.....we often let the rah rahs know this is the type of coach Pete has on his staff now....

YOGI Roth, USC's QB coach

Watch the clip, trust me on this one, you'll laugh. Our starting QB had a broken finger on his throwing hand suffered in the 2nd quarter vs Stanford. our QB coach's advice? "Just put some tape on it"

Oh and some more background on YOGI, the only reason he's on staff is because he's Pete's worthless idiot son's (our TE coach) best friend and teammate from their playing days at Pitt. Yogi was a walk-on WR.

Why Mustain or anyone else would come play for these knuckleheads is beyond me. Mustain should've gone to Tulsa. Malzhan is a great young OC. Unlike Sark.

Most SC fans, like most sports fans, are idiot rah rahs with no objectivity and who have come up with every excuse in the book for this failure of a coaching staff. However there's a small faction of us who do not accept failure or Pete's worthless offense or his homegrown hires. He's starting to feel the heat but no changes have been made. Maybe after SC goes 9-3 this year with the most talented team in the nation, he might make some changes. If not, I give him one more year running it his way until he needs to either make the changes or get the hell out.

PS - Aaron Corp is actually our best QB, the night stalker is a turnover machine, Mustain hasn't looked that good. Corp hasn't been in the system long enough for him to have grasped this miserable offense. He just makes plays. He's not starting because he never got the chance. Pete's competition mantra has turned into a farce. The seniors and upperclassmen play period.

I for one am slightly amazed....Kudos to Corp for winning the 2 string job..

this staff has only been around 3 years.

pissed away 3 NC.

lost to a 41 point dog

lost to 3 vastly inferior teams the last two years.

struggle nearly week after week

amazing how much talent has been wasted.

all because Pete's ego can't handle a proven OC who might get some respect.

The bigger question is why a kid like Mustain would want to transfer to a program like SC with 5-star QBs up and down the roster.

Here's an idea - if you are THAT good at QB, find a program where you are without question going to play.

I luvs me some Soviet Union... we don't get to read a rant like that until .. oh. .usually after the second week in october.

I love the Soviet Union's posts. I don't follow USC that closely, but trust me, we'd be having the same shitfit here if we were as loaded as USC and lost to Stanford. At home. I'm still bitter about all the talent we pissed away prior to 2005 with nothing to show for it, and we weren't hauling in the bluechips near the level that USC has been.

We get on Mack because of his loyalty to Davis, and by all accounts, Davis has earned his stripes through the years at a lot of different places. Imagine if Brown made Chris Jesse the offensive coordinator or QB coach?

USC and Carrol get somewhat of a free pass because they win the conference and beat some second rate Big 10 team in the Rose Bowl every year. If there was another team in their conference as good as OU, it would be a different story out there.

Really, there are a lot of parallels between Carrol and Brown. It seems like Brown has done a lot better job with his assistants, going back to firing Nunez. And even when he makes a mistake (Akina to DC), he rectifies it quickly and moves on.

nuc bear,

it's really sad that we've been so close to more national prominence but pissed it away.

lost to Col in big xii game with chance to play miami for it all
lost to k-state/aggy w easy chance to walk in and play for big xii title
ou lost to k-state to f us out of another bcs game (we showed our asses losing to ****** wash st)

mack has to shoulder some, most if not all the blame for these events but if these 3 games went the other way imagine how different our program would be. i know, i know, ifs and buts.

Mack sucks.

He's a one trick pony. Vince Young. Didn't Texas return like 17 starters from the '05 NC team for 2006? They went 9-3 in the reg season, Texas was basically a one man team. Maybe I'm way off on # of starters returning, let me know if I am. But if my memory is accurate, 17 returning starters from a NC team and lose 3 games including an *** kicking at home vs OSU, pathetic.

Texas is Holiday Bowl U.

And it's not like Mack's recruiting has been chopped liver. He's probably top 3 since he took over, maybe top 2. Only Pete has done better and more recently, Urban Meyer.

Texas shouldn't play second fiddle to anyone in conference but they are, to rival Oklahoma. At worst they should be on par with the Sooners.

Without Vince, Texas under Mack Brown = Holiday Bowl U.
