The ESPY nominations are out.
In the best Best Driver category Lewis Hamilton is the only F1 driver nominated. That's not really such a surprise. Here's the interesting part, though: in addition to noting his 4 wins, 12 podiums, and 6 poles, they misidentify him as the 2007 (F1) World Driving Champion. Somebody didn't care to check their facts. Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen won the 2007 WDC after Hamilton blew a 17 point lead over the last three races of the season.
It isn't the only mistake they made in the racing category. They called Ashley Force the first woman to win in the NHRA (ummm...Shirley Muldowney, 30+ years ago? ESPN's own linky ) and said Force beat her father to the championship (one race win isn't a championship).
The only way to see the list of nominees is by going to the ESPY website on ESPN.com, and clicking to vote. However, they have changed it to where you have to have an ESPN.com account to vote. Danica is not nominated, by the way.
