Mike Perrin

I can understand hiring a temp for a secretary or file clerk but the AD for one of the richest college sports organizations in the world?

What does he do anyway? This is a big business that seems like it is run by total amateurs.

He is an affable Steve Patterson. Deloss may have had the charisma of Al Gore, but he got **** done and left the program floating in a sea of cash and world class facilities. Do we really think Perrin is qualified to find the next savior of this program? And if so, how?

When I shook Mack's hand and hugged Sally as we were leaving the Football Banquet in 2013, was there anyone there that thought they were going to go out the next week and hire a guy that in, hypothetically 16 years, win 159 games, win a National Title, play for another one, play in three Rose Bowls, expose tOSU in the Fiesta, win a night game at the Shoe, win 10 bowl games and not recruit murderer's?

Seems to me that someone that is going to be running the Department is a hell of a lot more important of a hire than replacing CS.

8 & Dawg,

I've said before and continue to post that the qualified candidates for that job are very limited and may be down to ONE. Can we get him? How do we get him? Will Fenves and McRaven allow an AD that is smarter than both of them put together?

While Mike is not my first choice, he does love The University, which I doubt is true of our Berzerkley reject President. Half the legislature is afraid of him because of who his father-in-law was. I submit that the choice of HC is far easier than finding a quality AD. I promise you this, if the educrats in The Tower post an opening for AD, the first resume will be Bowelsby. How would you like that cretin making decisions in Bellmont?

Rodger I totally agree that Mike is a Lifetime Longhorn who wants the situation here to work more than anyone. But nothing he has done yet washes away the Patterson stench, nor will it.

Best to Jennifer and the family.

Based on what's happened in the last 24 hours, are we going to be able to pull in a capable coach with the way the administration has handled the coaching news? Would a coach want to work for an AD with limited experience?

Do the boosters realize part of this **** storm is due to not having an experienced AD and is there any discussion going on about replacing Perrin? IMO we need to replace Perrin before replacing Strong.

duff,

Aside from Oliver, who would you go get to be AD? Bottom line, there are far fewer quality ADs than there are coaches.

Rodger- I believe it was Mr. Jamail that said that the money that isn't buried under the Vatican, we have. So start dumping truck loads of it in Luck's front yard and get his *** here by the weekend. Yes Perrin is a fine man and Longhorn Legend, but this is a unique job and a unique place and as you and I agree, Oliver Luck is the only one for the job. We cannot take the chance on Perrin getting lucky like Castiglione did hiring a position coach who had never been a head coach. (Although Stoops can coach at OU another 20 years and still never win another national title, just lots of 10-11 win seasons and bowl game beat downs).

It may have been Red that made the Vatican quote, but I think it was Jamail when he was reminding people that he was Mack and Sally's personal attorney and that, oh btw, "I am the world's greatest living trail lawyer".

Best to Hunter, Jennifer and crew for a great holiday. Peggy sends her regards.

Someone who's an expert in damage control would be my first criteria. Honestly anyone that is willing to come to Austin that has the necessary experience to make decisions based on the product on the field would be a great start.

BA,

I wonder how the guy has a job, other than selling insurance. From mighty Akron to Third Ward to the cesspool that is Mizzou to further down the drain to Waco?

Yes, he is better than Stevie Patterson, but not many others. I wouldn't want him as an assistant to handle club sports.

you'd be surprised how many executives step into interim CEO roles. i'm sure that being an attorney is very helpful for all of the contractual components of the role.

they may not get the reins on long term vision, but the board depends on them to tackle the every day operations, and be the point for execution on the board's long term decisions.
