One of my all-time favorite Spurs. Sad to hear but I knew he was suffering. Smooth offensive player who was money from the baseline 12-15 ft out. Hell of good guy too. I had the privilege of meeting him and knowing him a little through my father who was involved with the team indirectly and a season ticket holder. Years later while I was working one summer after my freshman year in college, I saw him down on the Riverwalk and approached him to say hello. Before I could get out the sentence telling him how I had known him years earlier, he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him and shouted my name (actually a nickname). It was a great thrill for me to be remembered by him;. I hope the Spurs retire his number. It's shame he didn't live to see it happen. One of the best trades in the history of the franchise. RIP Mike.
Also one of my favorite Spurs from the early 80s. Sorry to hear of his passing. I'll remember his ability to make scoring look easy. I only wish he could have won a title while with the Spurs. As with so many other Western Conference teams, though, he often ran into a road block known as the Lakers.
