Woody is a Warrior and his 12.1 no hit / 13 scoreless innings relief effort masterpiece will go down in Texas lore.
But we couldn't have set the record for 25 innings without the other Warrior. {Belfiore was the highlight on the mound for Boston College, working 9.2 shutout innings, allowing three hits while striking out 11.}
After we bowed in reverence and thanked God that he was FINALLY gone from the mound, this kid did something that Woody did not. He finished the dang game playing in left field and probably batted 3 or 4 more times.
He was sure a fun player to watch and I'm dang proud to say I saw that BC Team play ball.
{Boston College DH/LHP Mike Belfiore
On pitching 9.2 innings in relief: To me, it was based all on adrenaline. It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. I’ve never really thrown that much in my life. I’ve just always been in a reliever or closer-type role. In front of that crowd, how could you not have any adrenaline? It was one of the coolest stadiums I’ve ever played in during my life, and it came against the number-one team in the country.}
