Microsoft Exchange Server

it is not free.
not only will you pay for it, you will pay for it dearly in upkeep.
What do you need? Email? share calendars? There are many free/open source mail servers and web based calendar programs.

yea, I know it is pretty expensive. That is why I was wondering if anyone knew of an inexpensive way to get it or maybe had a corporate license for it. My dad wants to set up a mail server at the house and wanted it.

if you want a cheap mail server for the house get a Cobalt Raq3 or Raq4. They usually go on ebay for about $200-$500. It runs linux and can handle email and web hosting right out of the box. You just have to set up the ip adress on the fron lcd panel, browse to that ip address and follow the directions and you'll have a mail server.

Yea, he is aware of other ways to do it. I don't know the reason, but I am sure he has them for wanting Exchange Server. He's a guy that is more than just a little familiar with computers since way back. I am in my mid 20s now and I don't ever remember not having a computer in the house.
