Microsoft Anti-Spyware

Downloaded MS's entry into the anti-spyware arena - and I am kinda impressed so far with the performance. I've had everything in the past (Adaware, Bazooka, SpyGuard, yada yada yada) and I am actually impressed that MS Anti-Spyware actually found a bunch more registry entries left behind by some browser hijacks that the other programs had not found.

The interface is clean and neat - anybody else tried this program?

I agree it's a beta - but it's a pretty damn good beta. Actually, MS bought Giant software and "Microsofted" it.

I just ran a deep scan and it even found some more old old Kazaa adware registry entries that had been missed many times by the others.

Thanks for posting this.

I did a one-month trial of Giant a few months ago. It did find a few things that the combo of AdAware and Spybot couldn't, plus it pointed out one false positive I had it ignore (along with my Kazaa-Lite). Nice to have Giant back again.

i must recommend this.

i regularly run spybot/ad-aware and just ran this and it found 10 items (some traces) (actual spyware and not cookies).

i'm impressed

I've tried MS Anti-Spyware, and it didn't find anything that Ad-aware didn't already cleanup. I use Firefox and don't let just any website download a cookie, so I believe my laptop is relatively clean already.

Its great that MS is getting into this business, but I hope they don't just limit the scanning to IE related spyware.

I mean, I don't have a problem with validating that my OS is proper. I really don't expect the "release" version to be free once it's all said and done. If MS provides a good product - I'll pay for it if it keeps showing promise like this beta. Iam really interested in finding a comprehensive product to fight spyware, hijacks and crapware.
