#25/25 Michigan State takes down #15/14 Florida State 72-64. The Spartans came back after falling behind by 15 in the first half. Nine players got into the game for MSU. One played less than a minute, one for 4 minutes and a third for 7. Porsche Poole, the other bench player, played 29 minutes and scored 18 pts. She was one of four MSU players in double figures. She was 3/5 from BTA and 3-3 from the FT line. Kalisha Keane had 22 pts on 3-6 from BTA and 11-14 FTs. Brittney Thomas added 14 pts. on 2-4 3s and 4-5 FTs. Lakendra Johnson had 11 pts, 11 rebs and 9 steals. She was 1-4 from BTA. As a team, MSU made 9-21 3s while FSU only hit 3-13 from BTA. Spartans were 19-23 FTs while FSU was 15-22. FSU did get 45 rebs to MSU’s 29. TOs were close with MSU committing 20 and FSU 24. But MSU got 28 pts off the TOs while FSU got 18.
Like the Horns, MSU is going to shoot the 3 and fastbreak. Should be an interesting game. BTW, the MSU announcers are calling us (Texas) a “powerhouse”. Not sure I agree with that. The Horns are young, keep on coming at you, and are going to surprise some teams. Not sure that qualifies as a powerhouse. But it was nice to hear.
