Michigan going after WRs

4 of their 5 pledges are WRs. He has also gotten 3 of his 5 out of Ohio. Ohio St. has absolutely dominated the Big 10 of late and especially Michigan. They have also dominated recruiting in that area and nailed down just about all of the top talent in Ohio recently. I am thinking that that possibly will change in the near future. Rich Rod will bring a wide open offense to the boring ball control Big 10. The Big 12, Pac 10, Big East, and now SEC are starting to run more wide open offensive schemes. Recruits today love this. Sure Michigan will probably suck at defense but their offense will probably be pretty good.

Thanks for the insights, but I can't figure out what our 2010 commit list has to do with Michigan recruiting?

Fraudriguez is trying to change the mindset at a Big 10 school. Michigan had a formula that worked. All they needed was was speed on defense. I wonder who their HC will be in 2011.

Simple: This way you can check all of our wr commitments, none of them are being sought after by Meatchicken. Breathe a sigh of relief.

burnt orangeman, that's dethpicable.

what's the difference between a harley and a hoover?

the position of the dirt bag.

Saying that the Big Ten hasnt been running spread offenses until now is ridiculous. Northwestern was running it back in the middle 90s and other teams followed suit. The spread in the Big Ten has grown just as evenly as in the rest of the power conferences.

That's true, TexanWolv. Not to mention the notion that just doesn't seem to die, that the "spread" is a type of offense. Sure they're recruiting a lot of receivers, but did you ever watch a West Virginia game? Its to run a spread option offense, not to throw the ball around like Tech.

Well in my mind a spread offense can be different forms. Run and shoot, 3-4 WR's with a dual-thread QB (like WVU with White or UT with Vince), 4 WR sets most of time, etc.

I don't think Tech's version of the spread is the definition.

The Big 10 has been dominated by Ohio St. and Michigan. Neither of those teams run a spread offense very much. They utilize a pro style offense with the QB under center and a power running game. I don't really care what Northwestern does b/c they haven't been a good team in a long time. I am talking about last 5-10 years, not before that. The Pac 10, Big 12, and Big East have especially seen teams in recent years move to spread offense that focus more on passing offense. Over time this has caused a change in the defenses in the conference as well. The SEC lately has had a few teams come in and run spread type offenses and that may cause a further shift going forward in that conference.

What I am saying is that the Michigan, a top Big 10 school (usually), is going to start running the spread. With this current trend being successful in other conferences I think this will give them a boost in recruiting. We may eventually see other teams in the Big 10 follow suit. Ohio St. has a QB that can run a versatile offense. Do you think Tressell has plans to open up the offense going forward on a more consistent basis? Could make the Big 10 more fun to watch again.
