That is the headline for a story on ESPN's Soccernet.

I don't recall a more injury prone soccer player in the history of soccer. Even Brian McBride, who got his face smashed in on a regular basis as he was learning to be a point forward, was/is not as injury prone as Michael Owen.

I can't think of a more injury prone "top player" in any sport.

guy has two defining moments in his career for me...

his maradona-esque run and goal in the world cup
his injury in the last world cup, crawling off the field where you could hear the moans from England, "ohhh, not again"

but, i guess he has a good attitude, i'm going to keep saying i'm a millionaire, see if maybe it's true if i keep saying it.

I remember both events. I was shooting an art video (I was one of the two subjects) and the England vs. Argentina game was on. (If I'm remembering incorrectly, then I don't remember both events.)

Owens didn't come from across the midfield line like Maradona & Messi, but he did do a zig-zag from between midfield and the box and then fire a brilliant goal at the age of 18.

The other injury was less than 60 seconds into the game. NO ONE TOUCHED HIM!

And he's not injury prone?

It is very rare for a person who gets injured as often as he does to continue to make it back near the top of his country's talent pool, but Owen has over the years. I think he's done now (as far as the national team goes), but he's still pretty good when he's not injured.
