Michael Jordan enters the Hall of Fame

They will let anybody in now, what a joke. Get a Gatorade commercial, a Nike shoe and you are guaranteed a spot in the Hall of Fame. Whatever.

That guy is **** if he does not have Luc Longley on his team.

Surprised no one has mentioned what an insecure graceless dick he came across as in his speech.

Greatest player of all time though, no question.

Jordan's Night to Remember Turns Petty
A good article on MJ's speech. I agree, he came across as self absorbed, but then again, he always was. Humble is not in his vocabulary, unfortunately.

I must have watched a different speech. The speech I watched, after he was able to compose himself, he started off by saying that there are so many people to thank, and it was never just him, that in every one of the championships there was Scottie Pippin...then he structured the speech around what motivated him over his career. It definitely was not a cookie cutter Hall of Fame speech full of platitudes; nor was he super humble. But it was a honest, heartfelt, entertaining, and insightful speech. I really enjoyed it, I was able to sit through all 23 minutes.

Nor do I think he was petty. He was not critical of his high school coach that cut him from the varsity, the player that won player of the year in North Carolina, Byron Russell etc. he just said they motivated him. I do not understand why that is petty or dickish. It is honest.

I am not one to waste time judging others when I have so much work to do with my own self, but I do know this much. Jordan is a great humanitarian, donating a lot of his time and money to various charities, including millions to the Boys and Girls Club.

Self absorbed? Perhaps. But that self absorption has sure helped a lot of people in need.

At first I thought he came off as extremely selfish especially when talking about how its the players that win championships, not the organization or the owners, BUT then I realized that NOW he is an owner. He was taking a shot at current self himself, while pumping his former self.

Yep greatest player ever no doubt. His speech was a let down. He called out all these people (some were friends and mentors) instead of THANKING them for motivating him. This was your moment to shine not to call people out for pissing you off. Classless!

I'm with Rick. MJ thought that by being tactless, he would get some laughs. Instead it just came off as rude.

He's a douche-pumper because he was awesome at the sport. And the world will find out 50 years after his death that his first "retirement" was forced by David Stern after they found out some of the specific things he was betting on.
