Michael Irvin incident

Hook'em
While in Phoenix for SuperBowl there were "allegations" made by a woman employee against him. Based on the allegations Michael lost his gigs with ESPN and NFL
Here is today's presser. Wow interesting. Surprised Marriott is doing this. 2 men who did not know Michael before but were there during "incident" and called in from Australia and Europe to defend Michael

Worth a watch

The risk for Marriott is they have defied two judges' orders to produce what Michael wants. mb correct me if I am wrong, but judges don't take kindly to their orders not being followed.

I was involved in a case where a famous oil company ignored a cut-off time once too often, and the judge ordered an immediate multi-billion payment from the oil company. (I know because the companies I were running had to dividend our future so they could come up with the cash.) That oil company is now a subsidiary of another oil company not named ExxonMobil.

The fact that they won't even let Irvin see the security camera evidence is enough for me to believe that this is a "pre-civil lawsuit" attempt to scare him and his legal team into asking for some kind of settlement.

I don't doubt that he probably said something incredibly stupid, sexist, horny, or whatever to her.

Michael's attorney said the encounter with the female lasted 90 sec. The 2 men who were with him ( and did not know Michael before) said the female showed no sign agitation or of being disturbed in the 1.5 minute encounter.
The fact that these 2 strangers , one an Australian, one from Europe, came forward of their own volition to back Michael up is telling.
Since the encounter was 90 secs. IF he said something stupid he said it fast.
It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

I could give Driver 8 a good contest on how much dumb **** I could say in 90 seconds!! Verify with my friends!

Anyway, I have a coworker that used the word "banana" in a very benign and harmless way... and was fired from a job. WTF!

I dont care much either way re Irwin. But suspect this tape will show MI was guilty of at least "proactive" language.

Let's see what the lawyers and judges say.

Agree; Irvin is a spare sportscaster with his record of screw-ups and fake tears.

Did he deserve to be taken off the air? Probably not, but Marriott is a NFL sponsor and Irvin is a spare sportscaster.

Irvin is certainly a lightning rod for controversy. Back in the 90s he and fellow player Eric Williams were accused of raping a woman. She said Michael held a gun on her while Eric raped her.
Both were later cleared when the woman admitted it didn't happen. Apparently she had consensual sex with Williams but Irvin was not even there.

I have no idea if Michael said anything inappropriate to her in those 90 secs. There is no audio on the vid. I do find it interesting that two strangers ( one an Aussie didn't know who Michael wss)came forward to say they were there and the woman didn't appear offended or upset at the time.

There is no audio so no one but the 2 of them know what was said. It didn't look like she felt "sexually harrassed". There were certainly enough people milling around she could have turned to
Including the male Marriott employee on the left who obviously was waiting for her to leave Michael. It looks like the male employee was chewing her out as they walked away on left at top.
I am sure the attorneys will be asking who the male employee is and what was said.

If that is what was said the firing was justified. If not they destroyed Irvin.

I think there is more than zero from the vid. It all takes place in an busy public area. There are 3 witnesses, not Cowboy fans or even from Dallas that voluntarily came forward to question the story the female is alleging. In Vid She approached Irvin, Then there is the male Marriott employee who hung around and then pulled the female away in a huff. If Michael said what she said he did WHY didn't she walk away or call on the security guy who was also there.
Three witnesses still back Michael Irvin in Marriott lawsuit after video release

I read the article in which Irvin vehemently denied saying what the accuser says he said to her- something like "do you know what it feels like to have a bl**k man in you...?" Irvin is also quoted in the article to say something like "I don't talk like this and I have never said anything like this.." Or, something reasonably close to my recollection above. Unfortunately for Michael Irvin, I actually heard him say almost that exact thing. He and Deion Sanders were walking to their car at the old bar- Borrowed Money in Dallas in 1994. They both said something to two young white females as they walked by them in the parking lot. I clearly have no idea what Irvin might have said to the lady at the Marriott. But, I do know- personally- that his contention that he has NEVER said anything like this is a lie. Granted, I heard this in 1994, but it basically was exactly what this lady claims he said to her in Phoenix.

That is pretty damning. Not good for Irvin if you heard that
surprising you were close enough to hear
Sanders was not a Cowboy in 94

My brother and a friend of ours were all in Borrowed Money when Irvin was there with Sanders. If not 1994- for sure not later than 1995. We all happened to (Sanders, Irvin, and the three of us). We all happened to be walking in the same area of the parking lot and Irvin and Sanders called out to the two young ladies (probably SMU co-eds since it was a Thursday night and tons of SMU folks frequented the bar). They said it loudly enough for for the girls to hear them and clearly loudly enough for us to overhear. Yes, it was almost exactly what he denies saying to the lady in Phoenix. I assumed he might have “grown up,” or changed his act by now. At a minimum I know he lied when he made the statement “i’ve never talked like that.”

I worked with a rather attractive lady that had a run in with Irvin years ago. She was / is a barrel racer (her horse is anyway) and he made a crude comment after banging his fist on her trailer after an event in mesquite. She retaliated with an equally harsh comment about how he was about to lose the hand that hit her trailer.

That gal took nothing off anyone. Her boss would testify...

H2R,

Can chasers can be a really tough bunch. NEVER touch their horse or trailer. You are better off trying to touch the woman; at least the beating will be less severe.
