Miami - South Beach

I'm headed to Miami in April staying at a hotel on South Beach. Flying in to Fort Lauderdale. Can anyone tell me the best way to get from Fort Lauderdale to South Beach, whether it be taxi, renting a car, etc. I heard something about a tram or train, but I'm not sure. Also if anyone has suggestions on dining or activities it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Rent a car. When you finally figure out how to get out of FLL, head over to 95 and go South past gowntown Miami and onto causeway over to Miami Beach. I think taxi fare is probably $75-100 if not more.

Problem is South Beach has limited parking and after about 8 or 9 at night it is hard as hell to go north on A1A. Even Washington is a pain in the ***.

Joe's Stone Crab at the South end of Washington was the first restaurant in Miai Beach and a true legend. Be prepared for the wait, which can be as much as 3 hours. DO NOT tip teh Maitre'd on the way in. Thank him discreetly on your way out. Tell him who you are, where you're from and ask if you still "settle up" on the way out.

The jumbo crab claes are bigger than your hand.

taxi would be 50, roughly.

rent a car. the train doesn't go to south beach. better yet, rent a boat in FLL and go down the inter coastal and park the boat at some marina. that would be pretty kick ***.

don't dine in south beach. dine in coral gables.

if you must dine in southbeach, go to nemos, or meat market.
