Meyer on the way to visit Hicks

Just learned Urban Meyer is trying to squeeze his in-house visit with Hicks in for tonight. Apparently he wants to watch the game with Jordan and his Mom, and just called to tell them he was on the way.
MODS-If the recruiting services don't confirm this soon, then feel fee to lock or remove. However, my source is rock solid.

I would not be shocked if Urban decides not to go, changes his mind and calls to inform.

Then a half hour later he waffles again and only drives part of the way but will still be in the neighborhood. He will tell some he will be back and then fifteen minutes later, decide to go again.

I think Mack should call Jordan and tell him that he would love to sit and watch the game with Jordan and his mother, but he has an engagement already.

mack should call up flowers.com and have a "get well soon" basket for urban delivered right about at kickoff

Can non-coaching university employees make official visits? I guess he hasn't started his leave of absence.

It would definitely be smart for MB to call or text Hicks at halftime and tell him that he wished Hicks and the others at the house could be at the game.

Urban Meyer will still be the head coach at Florida during his leave of absence. They're not hiring an extra coach during the interim period, so he can still recruit. Also, I'm pretty sure Tressel has his in home today so...

If he was able to watch the game without outside interruptions, Hicks would have saw a unit that could have quit, but didn't. If he wants to play for the best, AUS is the airport identifer and Boom is the name.

Hopefully Muschamp can seal the deal tomorrow night (at least that is my understanding, that Muschamp et. al will be there tomorrow night).

Meyer did not make the visit. The interim head coach made the visit. Meyer will be the head coach in August, but he is not the head coach right now. I don't really know what the NCAA's rules are with regard to whether or not Meyer is allowed to recruit, but he is not officially Florida's head coach at this time, and that could be why he did not make the trip.

Hicks and Jackson Jeffcoat are both visiting Florida this weekend. My guess would be that it's because Meyer can't recruit off-campus right now and they both want to meet with him in person.

I would think Hicks will be ready to commit next week. He will have taken all of his visits and had in-homes with all the coaches by then. And if he's serious about enrolling for the spring, then he can't wait until signing day. The last day to enroll at Texas is next Friday (Jan. 22). I don't remember when Florida's is, but it's before ours.

I read on Gerry Hamilton's blog on ESPN that they were visiting on January 15.

Coincidentally, I just saw on ESPN that Jeffcoat has cancelled his visit.

Hicks visited Florida Dec. 12th IIRC. Also, your information on Urban Meyer's recruiting privileges is incorrect. Each staff is allowed a certain number of coaches who can recruit off campus. Florida did not hire an extra coach to take Meyer's spot. He can still do the same things as any other head coach.

I am hearing that Meyer is saying some strange things to kids. Well down the pipeline of info, so it may be a 'Deaf as a Bat' type thing, but he is pulling out the stops to create a sense of 'destiny.'

Jeffcoat did cancel his visit, and also heard that Hicks was not too thrilled that Meyers did not do the in-home visit...Hopefully Hicks can see through the potential lies Meyers may be throwing around.

I wonder if he is upset that Musch did the in-home for Texas and not Mack, or if that is what he expected due to their relationship.

There was a story that Clendon posted here down below ("Jordan Hicks Gets His mind Right") where Hicks is quoted as saying: "I know Coach Meyer – he’s an honest man. If he says he’ll be back next year then I believe him."

The timing of that quote was crucial because it came at a time when Meyer's wild announcement of leave and immediate reversal had everyone's head spinning. I know my initial reaction to the timing of Hicks' quote was that it meant top recruits were privy to Meyer's private deliberations and intents while the rest of the world was in the dark. Appropriate or not, the effect of that kind of conduct by Meyer to bring recruits into his private world is to create a sense of special privilege. For Meyer to then not show for the in-home to say face to face what he said before might be experienced as a reversal of perceived closeness and raise questions about his authenticity - i.e. now you see it, now you don't.

Interwebs are saying Meyer did NOT visit Hicks, and because of that, it has created a very negative vibe around Florida for the Hicks family. Muschamp did a final in home and based on all that I feel good about Hicks. This defensive class could be historic.

You guys are going to laugh on the afternoon of the 2/3/10 when I tell you my source, and what actually happened. Bear with me...

One additional note. He's Texas' to lose. He wants to be a Longhorn, and his Mom wants him to come to Texas. The only thing that might keep him from being a Longhorn are some family related issues involving someone (not his Mom) there in Ohio.

Jesus Christ, please tell me he doesn't have a baby on the way? If he does, the first thing on the OOS recruiting questionnaire needs to become "is your significant other/**** buddy on birth control...Y/N"

tOSU seems to be hanging around tough.

Most have long believed that tOSU was on the outside looking in at UF and UT (if not out altogether).

Maybe Tress is gonna catch a fish here.
