Wow, that Mexican shot on goal just now juuuuust missed the left corner. I think the Argentina side will be victorious but I am rooting for the Tri. When they are not playing us I root for them. I have way too many Mexican friends not to.
I usually have a hard time rooting for Mexico, too many memories of urine bags being thrown at US players and their disgraceful play in the last 10 minutes of the 02 round of 16. They hate the US with a passion only aggy can truly comprehend.
That said, they are a fun team to watch and have had the better chances thus far. Unlucky to not have a goal.
Well, that sucks. As it was said by the announcers, had England gotten the goal they deserved, things could have shaken out differently. You attack the game differently. Your strategy is different as well as your energy level. Same here. I wonder how deflated the Mexi's are right now and not rightfully so. They know it should be level right now or at least not down 2 now.
So if teh Argentina team lays down and stays down for even the slightest touch (if a touch is even needed), what do they do when punched or in a real fight? Do they spontaneously combust?
Loop are you suggesting that the Argentines arent really hurt, I am shocked shocked I tell you that such an accusation would be made about a team coached by Diego Maradona who never committed a foul in his pro career but was victimized constantly by every player who ever defended him.
He was not offsides on the first goal because he was behind the last player when the ball was played. To be offsides you have to be in front of the last player, usually the goalie and behind the last defender. I don't know why more anouncers don't understand the correct interpretation.
Argentina's first goal was offside, no question about it.
Both games today had controversial goal calls that could have affected the game. However, I think the teams moving through to the next round are the more deserving ones based on their level of play.
Every league has gone through its period of opposition to instant replay. However, I think FIFA has to use the technology at least for goals! They have a huge effect on the game flow and result.
For goals, there should not be a marked interruption of game flow. In Mexico's case, the referee spent a good minute trying to calm the players down. A fourth or fifth referee would have had plenty of time to look at replays.
fifa's argument is that if they do it for the world cup, they have to do it everywhere Because of their "rules of the game" BS.
When I put on my tinfoil hat the voices in my head tell me that sometimes FIFA doesn't mind certain results because of the amount of $$ that is bet all over the world because I am sure they are getting a piece of it too. They are easily the most corrupt Sporting organization around.
The thing I don't like about offsides is that the original intent was to prevent cherrypicking. When there's a big jumble right in front of the goal involving multiple players for each team, the defense should be rightly scored upon if they leave their goal undefended by running upfield while there is an offensive player still standing right by it.
I know the stereotype in soccer is everybody flops, but seriously Argentina takes it to a completely new level. You can't watch 2 minutes of the game without an Argentine taking an obvious dive.
