Just as I was entering high school, my family moved from NYC to Chicago, the South Side. Rough neighborhood, mostly hispanic.
I remember during the hot summer months there were these old men, I assume they were Mexican cause they sure didn't speak English, who pushed around carts of homemade popsicles. My favorites were the lime and watermelon, both usually still had some seeds in them.
I wonder if this is just a Chicago thing because there were hispanic folks in Manhattan but I don't remember any Mexican pops, just italian ice. I don't remember seeing any Mexipops in Austin or San Francisco either.
Is there any way I can replicate those tasty pops with some fresh fruit, an ice cream maker, and some popsicle molds?
