Metallica show in Dallas

I wasn't sure what to expect since it's been a long time since I've seen them live. And the last time I saw them, Hetfield did not play because of a waterskiing accident. But man, did they deliver the goods. They can still play the faster stuff and Hetfield really put on a show. The bassist is great. Hammet is a little on the subdued side, not alot of animation when he's on stage. Lars was right on, and they didn't have to restart any songs like last time I saw them.

So many songs off Kill --4 Horseman, Whiplash, Phantom Lord, and of course Seek & Destroy. A little disappointed nothing off Ride. No Fade to Black, For Whom the Bell Tolls, or Creeping Death kinda bummed me out. But they made up for it with playing Dyers Eve and Breadfan. Thankfully no songs from Load and Re-load. Well maybe they played Fuel? Can't remember. The Death Magnetic songs really rocked too.

They have a wicked laser show that kicked ***. Didn't expect that.

One thing I hadn't seen before is that the intro's to some songs were not played live, they were CD's or something. Then they would break out and play the rest of the songs live. Since they really didn't take any breaks for 2+ hrs, I guess they needed some recovery time between songs.

Overall, a great show and I highly recommend it.

How was the Dallas crowd? I saw them in San Antonio and it pains me to say it (as a Houstonian), but I think SA may be the best metal crowd in Texas. I was in the balcony seats and a majority of the crowd did not sit down for the entire show. I wished they had played more Ride the Lightning stuff, but they did play Creeping Death. I wished they had played Breadfan. The audience seemed to be really into the new material. Overall, my favorite Metallica show since the Monsters of Rock tour with GnR and Faith No More (the audience enthusiasm had a lot to do with it).

The Dallas crowd was into it big time. I was way up top and everybody stood most of the time. They were moshing pretty hard on the floor too. Somebody did throw a full beer on Lamb of God's guitar player and he tried to go into the crowd after the guy.

There show at South Park in I think summer of 94 was still the best show I've ever seen. Started w/Breadfan straight into Master of Puppets...the most chaotic 15 minutes of my life and about the greatest 2.5 hrs of my life

I saw them in Nashville in 92, on the Black tour. The intro was the last part of The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. That haunting guitar music then tranistioned into Enter Sandman. Good times for a 22 year old Army trooper.

I haven't seen them since the snake pit tour - -1991??

It was a great show. But I find that I just don't enjoy them like I used to.
