Men's Dress Shirts

anyone got any suggestions of a place that has good dress shirts with good color choices for a reasonable price.

I have been buying mine at Structure (Express) for several years now, but have recently become too broad in the neck to wear their large, and the XL is way too long in the sleeves.

Any suggestions?

Dress shirts begin and end with Brooks Brothers' No-Iron. You can launder them at home and they look pressed (i.e. no dry cleaning bills).

I believe it was HorninNYC who suggested them and when I got a suit job in January I was glad I invested. Haven't bought a dress shirt from anywhere else since.

First off, don't buy your dress shirts in M, L & XL. You need to buy shirts that are sized by the sleeve and neck.

Structure stuff isn't designed to last more than a few months. I would never buy a dress shirt at that place.

The no-iron shirts at Jos A Bank are also good.

If you take your white dress shirts to the cleaners, you should just consider them to be disposable. After a certain number of washings they will be unwearable from shrinkage if they haven't otherwise been destroyed by the cleaners. It took me a while to figure out the shrinkage. I couldn't understand how I was getting too fat to wear my shirts while I stayed at the same weight. I have started buying button-down oxfords from Land's End. They're $20, $25 if you get them mongrammed.

dude... tell me you don't monogram your shirts...

I'm obviously not the trendiest of dressers, but I don't think I have a single dress shirt (out of 75+ I would guess) that isn't Brooks Brothers. Honestly, you can't go wrong, and they have sales frequently. One of the bi-annual events is going on right now.

I don't know about the cost of Brooks Brothers, but Men's Wearhouse has a lot of no-iron dress shirts that are around $30. And Men's Wearhouse is having a Preferred Customer sale right now, that gives you an extra 10% off. I think you just have to register online.

I will take a look at the Brooks Brothers, however.

Not true. I think for most guys, especially who aren't into golf, after your like 28 and have a real job no one knows what to buy you. So your wife, parents and in-laws just start buying you dress shirts and/or ties. It adds up fast. The lesson: get a hobby that requires lots of silly trinkets, your family will thank you.

Brooks Brothers no-irons are dominant. Best investment I ever made. My parents gave me some no-irons from Jos. A. Bank and they're a good option too.

The_Root, Katy Mills has a Brooks Brothers outlet. 3 no-irons for like $120.

Also, the Jos A Banks no irons are nearly identical to Brooks Brothers. Both quality.

i work in an IT dept and have to wear a shirt and tie everyday....and since i have to do some "dirty work" from time to time, i don't like wearing my more expensive dress shirts to work.

i have found that the claybrooke brand from foley's can't be beat. they have a "model" with a sturdier fabric that is perfect for an active job. on sale, they only run about $17 and they have 8 or 9 colors to choose from.

even if you prefer the more expensive, nicer shirts, i'd recommend getting a couple of cheaper ones that you can wear and not really care if something bad happens to it.
