Just checking if any one here has this disease. I have had it for about 7 years. All the doctors i have seen are clueless. 10 years ago 0.3 percent of the worlds populaton was affected. Today the number of people is about 2.9 percent. That is a large jump in ten years. Any info would be greatful..................................

I started to get dizzy all the time. It was really messing my world up. Some experts think it is related to a virus. I dont have much hearing lose at this point, but i was told that it will happen at some time. Being dizzy is the worst part of the disease.

I have had it for about the last 15 years. I have constant tinnitus (what?) in my left ear and a 95% hearling loss in the same ear, along with a feeling of fullness in the ear. I have only had a few really bad dizzy spells, but I do have to be careful about turning my head quickly or closing my eyes and moving. (I suspect I would fail the field sobriety tests because of this.)

You are right, they really are kind of clueless about it and there is not much demand to study it. It can be helped with attention to diet some of the time, esp watching the salt intake. Most of any treatments center around helping deal with the dizzy spells since there is not much you can do to get rid of tinnitus.

I tend to think the jump in the affected rate is sue in large part to better diagnosis techniques. There used to be a Meniere's group online, but I'm not sure what happened to it.

My Uncle has it, he has a great doctor in Denver if that hepls. he has had the surgery for it, no more ringing, no more dizzyness, but he has lost partial hearing in that ear, which the bastard uses to his advantage.

Lostman eating small meals will help some too. I use to take valium for the dizziness. I have read that at the Boston ENT institute that a trial study has been taking place by treating people with anti-viruals with great success. I really only have problems in the winter time but it seems every year my symtoms get worse and last long than the year before.

Thanks for the input people!!
