Melania

As much as I detest Trump, I've never heard that his wife is anything but a gracious, kind, and intelligent woman. Some gave her crap about posing nude as a young model, but I don't think these people understand the cultural difference in Europe on nudity. It's no where near as taboo. In fact, I've seen naked chicks sunbathing just walking past a small park on the way to the Wiesbaden main train station. Showing a little boob just isn't frowned upon here, and I think it's a little unfair to judge her on it when that's considered normal in her culture.

Would she have married him if he drove a bus or laid bricks for a living? No, but big shocker, chicks dig guys with money. Trump wouldn't have married her if she weighed 300 pounds (or even 140 pounds).

I just watched her speech, and it was superb. Yes, she is off-the-charts beautiful, and the accent is sexy as hell. However, she's much more than that. She exuded sincerity, humanized Trump (which isn't easy), and made him look like a nice guy and a great patriot. Furthermore, she came across as the right kind of immigrant. She has nostalgia for her home country and loves her parents, but she fully embraces America and its values. I didn't sense any of that "citizen of the world" crap that you get with Western Europeans. (It's a lot less common with Eastern Europeans who spent 60 years getting crapped on first by the Nazis and then by the Communists.)

I need help. My Facebook folks are in a lather and saying that Melania plagiarized Michelle Obama's speech.
There are a couple of generic lines they use as proof--things that I'm sure our own parents taught us. Work hard, respect others, that kind of stuff.

Anyway, on some comment on Yahoo, I came across people saying that Michelle had said basically the same thing that many others had previously said in speeches about working hard, respecting others. One of the people mentioned was Ophra Winfrey. So, it seems as if everyone says basically the same thing maybe.
I am so sick of the double standard from these people--don't dare criticize how Hillary looks, but they can make fun of Melania for looking like a Barbie doll and now parroting exactly what MO said.
I hunted and couldn't find a link that said the MO basically rehashed what Ophra and others have said.
If anyone is better than me at this, please share the link here. I feel the need to post it.

( I would also appreciate anyone who can provide the link that shows HRC's interns that look as lily white as the Republican interns in Paul Ryan's picture. I saw the photo, but it was not cited. It was only on an instragram, and I don't want to post it and look like an idiot. But, it looked just as "bad" as Ryan's. Evidently, not too many minorities want to serve as interns.)
Thanks if anyone can help!

I don't really care that she plagiarized Michelle Obama's speech, but it does bring up 2 points:
1. Trump's campaign, in general, has no grasp of the details. You'd think someone would have reviewed the speech, just to avoid this kind of thing. Just like the logo with the T ******* the P -- its called an unforced error in tennis.
2. I knew the usual suspects would instantly come up with some kind of weak ******** like iatrogenic above.

This thread is worthless without pictures.....

Do tell the specifics of HRC's plans beyond expanding upon the genius foreign policy of Obama and pandering to BLM.

As far as Melania, I much prefer watching her over the next four years versus Slick molesting interns.

Of course you knew it monkey boy. Even you can grasp the obvious now and then.
By the way, I'm giving you "thuch a look" right now.

Oprah, Michelle Obama, Melania Trump, and countless others have hit upon the same themes in various speeches over the course of many years. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Melania Trump's speech last night lifted entire sentences out of Michelle Obama's introduction of Barack Obama at the 2008 DNC. That's plagiarism.

However, it wasn't the entire speech, or even large parts of the speech -- it was a couple of sentences. Plus, we don't even know who wrote (or, more accurately, lifted and tweaked) the plagiarized sentences. Thus, I think the left is making much more out of this than is there.

I do find a bit of fault in two things:
  1. The Trump campaign screwed the pooch by failing to run the speech through any of the dozens of plagiarism-detection websites. This is free, easy, and pretty reliable. Each and every text of a public figure should be checked for plagiarism before it is released or read. This was an amateur mistake.
  2. Trump has been making the rounds this morning calling the plagiarism allegations absurd. She was caught red-handed. If you want to run a campaign based on the idea that Hillary is a liar, don't be a blatant liar yourself.

In 8th grade trash talking the rule was never admit you screwed up even if you got caught screwing up. So far as I can tell, there is no governor on the Trump campaign that didn't apply to 8th grade trash talkers in the early to mid 1970s.

It's also reassuring to note the Michelle, Melania and I all were taught some common values as we grew up.

At least we didn't hear Melania say "This is the first time in my life that I'm proud of being an American."

Out of all the people to plagiarize, damn. At least steal from Nancy Reagan next time. In any case, this will be a 1 day story. Trump is masterful about manipulating the media by changing the subject.

Ooh, I'm certain that NOBODY ON EARTH EVER SAID; work hard for what you want, your word is your bond, and treat people with respect, before MO said it in '08.

I mean come on. It's a bunch of platitudes. The important thing is that Melania is very hot and can say whatever she wants.

I thought the same at first but there were nearly two identical paragraphs. The odds would be pretty impossible that it was a coincidence. That said, it is a pretty weak story. Trump could have handled it better by pointing to the speechwriter instead of denying it altogether. And Melania is definitely hot.

To make the libs happy, Trump could have said it was "not Melania's intent to copy someone else's speech", or there's no "there there", or "she never plagiarized anything marked classified", or she "turned over all drafts and sources of her speech", or "she copied out of convenience". At least she didn't plagiarize while under oath and commit perjury.

This entire thing is about getting people who don't follow politics to know that Trump is married to a successful woman.

What McHammer posted......all of the media outlets are talking about Melnia and Michelle.......genius political move get the media talking and comparing the two.....

One of my friends posted this on FB which couldn't have been said any better.

"You know... It never ceases to amaze me how selective the outrage or vilification is amongst some is. Take the Benghazi investigation into the deaths of a US Ambassador, two navy seals and a personal aid to the ambassador, Hillary lies to the faces of the families and the American people about the attack, which led to the full scale investigation into her flagrant violation of federal law pertaining to classified information and then her lying under oath about her activities, leading to the director of the FBI to sight seven different lies that she committed, only to call her feeble minded in not understanding the laws enough to realize she violated anything... is met with collective yawns and lets move on to her Coronation... Then something as little as a couple of lines, from a 30 min speech given by Melania Trump, that are similar or exactly the same as a speech given by MO, there is outrage and bombastic ridicule from the, feelings on their sleeve's, Leftist... It boggles my mind.."

So you think what Hillary has gone through over the Benghazi lies, email server, etc. is a "collective yawn." Funny, looks like to me she excoriated on these pages, even by Seattle Husker, NJlonghorn and I. Remember which medium broke the email story? The New York Times. As far as bombastic ridicule, it's part of the turf, in no small part because right wing media is persistently virulent.

Croc
I think what 135 is referencing is the collective yawn from most of the media and most pundits and the yawn that was Comey's not indicting her.

rightwing media consistently virulent? :rolleyes1: is that You Hillary?
