i think it's now safe to say Mel is not "what women want". Unless that woman wants to be berated and beat by a drunk whacko.
 
I don't see why this should end his career.

He has ranted about Jews and conspiracies, etc., something that should be noxious to the public, and to any number of Jews in the industry he calls home (their numbers aren't insignificant). Nevermind that making bad movies disqualifies no one.

The man is just gross.
 
It seems that making entertaining movies has gotten Mel a pass on quite a bit of bad behavior. I certainly don't condone this. But, the movies are definitely pretty solid IMO.
 
Yes, the fact is these stars do not get a free pass, neither do politicians. The press is out there telling the stories. Sports stars, movie stars, senators, presidents-no free pass anymore when they do something wrong.
Gibson has made some very entertaining movies, so it is a shame he is such an asshat in real life.
 
The Mel Gibsons, Tom Cruises get passes BECAUSE they make the successful movies. In Hollywood, like DC, it seems that the almighty dollar goes further than ever before when it comes to redemption. The best way to get something negative to stick in that city is to go anti-gay or club a baby seal. Gibson seems to be walking a thin line with his latest act of pure stupid. Only when he starts losing $$ at the box will he really be on his last life.
 
Unlike politicians, entertainment stars do get a pass from the public. After the initial fallout, it will all blow over with the next big performance.

It is something I am proud of? No.

It is something I think people should be saying whenever they feel like it? No.

Look, people use this word just like they use the "B" word when describing women, or the "R" word when describing people with disabilities, or the "F" word when describing gays, etc, etc, etc

It doesn't make these people racist, chauvinistic or bigoted - it simply makes them ********. When people use these words they are, I'd say 99.9% of the time, attempting to inflict the most emotional pain on a person, so they just use words that everyone knows to be mean, hateful, and hurtful.

There's not some deep seeded hatred for blacks, women, gays, retards or whatever. They're just being ********.
 
7 Iron is saying something I've thought and said for years now. Another way to describe it is that people who say these things are being bullies. People who want to inflict emotional pain on oithers are going to throw out the insult that is most likely to get a reaction.

Take the ******** in Columbus back in '05. Every Texas fan who walked by was insulted. Those who are a minority of any kind are insulted for being just that. And it didn't have to be a racial minority. Everyone wants to be accepted, and to insult someone for being different is meant to hurt. It hurts even more if the person being insulted can't do anything about what makes them different.

What hurts most to a fat, pigeon-toed black person wearing glasses? If you had to ask them, a racial slur probably tops the list because that is something they can never change even if they wanted to. That same bully would pick a different characteristic to insult a white person, but when it's a black person, you know damn well what'll hurt. I've been insulted for being white, but never by a white person in a white crowd.

If you could be a fly on the wall observing a bully harassing passersby, you'd probably be able to predict what's about to come the way of their next target. Do you think Tiger Woods was the only victim of the kids who tied him up to a tree and called him racial slurs back in elementary school? My guess is he was not.
 
As long Mel Gibson's ROI remains sufficient, there will be people in Hollywood willing to back him. Whether they be the Jews he despises or not, it doesn't really matter.
 
Wow. This guy needs real help. I wonder if he has been like this his entire career and these stories have only come out the last few years.

So I just listened to the tape.

It's vile.

I'm not so much offended by any of the words he used. I don't use them, (at least not most of them), but I'm a big boy.

What offended me was the cruelty.

I have a lot of ex-girlfriends and even an ex-wife. I could never speak to someone I once loved and with whom I share a child, with so much cruelty.

I have zero respect for that guy.

Mel Gibson has not aged well. He was so handsome as a young man I felt a jealous resentment. Maybe it's just me, but the last few pictures I've seen of the guy he's ugly as a mud fence. As a betting man I'd put my money on Bob Barker or Larry King to be better at seducing beautiful young women. Of course, before I put up any real money I'd need to hear from Texanne or similar expert.
