Where do these things start? In the span of a week, I've heard several media figures mention that the college game is more physical this year. Is this a media creation? An echo chamber? Laziness? I don't get it.

Gee, I dunno. Maybe it starts with idiots like former regional managers of NCAA officials, ESPN analysts who played at Duke, current NCAA coordinators of officiating, and coaches of the 2006 and 2007 national champs, all of whom apparently were suckered into agreeing with this particular media "narrative."

My question is: where do Internet narratives about the media start?
