McFarland update?

Has anyone got a good update on McFarland yet? Shepard seems to be getting all the buzz but this guy is the highest ranked guy in the state. I know he got an offer and seemed to be high on the Horns but I haven't heard a reaction from the Jr. day yet...

McFarland is going to take all the visit before commiting, that is the word around the recruiting boards.

I think in the long run he will go to Texas A&M, its hard to tell with A&M being down but not out, plus the DC leaving, has the door open for someone like Texas to make a move and get him.

LSU will be offering Davenport and McFarland at DT.

Fluker who is a Bama commit, was going to be offered but as a OL, not DL but may not get an offer now.

tigger, no snowball chance for LSU or aggy, he will be a horn when it is all over. He will start and star as a freshman.

Lufkin defensive tackle Jamarkus McFarland might be the most important recruit for the Longhorns’ 2009 class.

He’s big. He’s fast. There’s nobody else like him at his position in the class.

McFarland was at Texas on Sunday for its first Junior Day, received an offer and did not commit.

So where does the 6-foot-3-inch, 280-pound five-star athlete stand?

“He really enjoyed Texas,” Lufkin coach John Outlaw said. “He’s not going to commit yet because he wants to go to the Oklahoma and LSU Junior Days.”

Is Texas in the lead?

“His mom wants him to go to Texas. She really liked everything they have to offer, but she also wants him to take his other visits and make sure that it’s the right choice for him,” Outlaw said.

McFarland had 67 tackles, six sacks and 18 tackles behind the line of scrimmage as a junior.

Would the fact that he is from Lufkin work against us? I know that kids from there tend to go somewhere other than Texas.

After listening to Mack over the years, I don't see how any parent would want their kids to go anywhere but Texas.

OrangePants, I went my senior year to Lufkin High. There were more in my class who went to Texas than to A. & M. There are a lot of T-shirt Aggies in Lufkin.

There's also an Ex-Students chapter there.
