McCarthyism

So the media today is hyperventilating about a 2013 interview with Bannon where he suggested McCarthy had good reason to fight communist infiltration in the 1950s. I have always (well, for 30 years or more) agreed with this position and dont see it as that controversial. Commies were all over the US Govt (esp under FDR) and needed to be rooted out.

Obviously Hollywood disagrees. But Hollywood is often out of step with the great bulk of Americans

How do the rest of you see this? I am out alone on a limb here?

Hollywood disagrees because Hollywood was infatuated with the Soviets and had more than its share of communists.

We can certainly argue about McCarthy's methods, but the left continually wants to ignore the fact that he was proven to have been correct. Ironic that all of a sudden we care about Russian influence, when in any other context we're told that it's all paranoia and conspiracy theory. Obama didn't care about Russia until it became politically expedient to care about Russia.

The irony is thick with this one
