KU is a TERRIBLE draw for NU. There are several games I'd like to have a mulligan on this year. sCUm, BU, MU at home come to mind.
Unfortunately, there are no mulligans in sports. Gotta live with what we got. But it would be REALLY nice to beat that school in Columbia five of the last six in basketball.
Not to imply NU is a cakewalk. They played great here last week. Just seems like OSU is playing really well and tough to beat a team 3 times. Don't see Tech beating them, ut it would be nice to have the chance to get some revenge against them.
Though, I will say this about NU/KU - You're right it's tough to beat a team three times in one year - see Cowboys/Giants in the playoffs. That's the one thing we have going for us.
We'll see. Gotta get by that school in Missouri first. One game at a time.
We might have to beat the three local teams (MU, KU, KSUcks) just to get to the conference tourney final.
But you know what, I wouldn't have it any other way. We don't have a thing to lose in this conference tournament - we're likely headed to the NIT. If we're going to go, let's go in a blaze of glory, against the best there is.
Psyclone, you're an awesome asset to the Big 12 basketball following community. Thanks for taking time to not only set this up, but to go out of your way to let us know about it.
Usually the Big 12 gets a really bad TV deal on this thing. Most of the games are on ESPN+, which in Houston means a local independent station or maybe FSN.
The final game is on ESPN for sure, and maybe one of the semifinal games.
I realize that's not a definitive answer, but it will at least shore you up a little until we get some more details from the Texassports.com site.
Kansas may have the more favorable quarterfinal matchup, but if Texas can get past the second round, they've got pretty smooth sailing to the final game. Kansas will be the team that has to tangle with Kansas State or A&M to get to the finals, while Texas will likely play two teams it has already beaten twice. I feel a lot more comfortable with that than I would if it were the other way around.

Yeah that's usually the case, but I think I remember ESPN announcing that the Big 12 tourney would have expanded coverage this year. I believe they made mention of this around the same time that ESPN announced the new Big 12 contract with football and basketball. I also believe next year the tourney will start a day earlier so we will no longer play the final game of the tourney on the same day (**** in most cases during the same hour) the brackets are announced.
Plus more than likely I'll be on a rig this year during both tournies, which bodes well for a deep run by our Horns (all of our deep runs over the past few years occurred when I was out to sea for some part of the run), but makes it much more difficult for me to catch games that aren't on the main ESPN channels ( ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic, ESPNU).
It sounds like you have more up to date information than I do.
I do know they're moving the tournament up next year, which is great, but I knew nothing about getting better network coverage.
Sorry about your isolation due to work, but make some great money while you're out there! Hopefully they'll all be on the ESPN network. I'll post something if I see anything. My gosh, the thing starts in two days. When do you head out?
It looks like you are in luck. Our Friday game is on ESPNU. Both semifinal games on Saturday are on ESPN2 (for out-of-market locations, anyway). And of course, the final is on the mothership.
It looks like in Austin the first two rounds will be on the CW. Also they are supposed to be on EspnU and Espn360.com.
Does anyone know if there is a way to watch these games online? I don't get Espn360.com through my ISP and I don't have a SlingBox...I have checked out this site but only find NBA and euro league games... The Link
