How long do mattresses usually last? How long do you typically keep a mattress before getting a new one?

Also, what mattress would you recommend? I'm thinking about getting a new one. I've had the same one for 7 years. Thinking about getting something new. I'm sure there will be some degree of sticker shock when I go mattress shopping, so I'm looking for good value. Not cheap, but value. I don't mind paying more so long as what I'm getting is worth it. Thanks.

Mattresses can last a long, long time with good care. My last bed was probably 10-15 years old, if not 20, I just can't remember. However when the gf and I moved in we bought a king size mattress at Sams Club (or Costco, can't remember). It was only $500, and it's been a great bed now for 2 years. Some others will say to spend top dollar because you spend so much time sleeping...and I won't disagree, but if you need something good, and something that won't break the bank, check those out.

Mattress firm is offering $200 off all mattresses right now. I bought one on Sunday. They also have a little rack at the back of the store with their 'cheap' mattresses that aren't $200 off but are cheap to begin with so try those out.

I've been told you should turn the matress over every year to increase the longevity.

Do NOT remove the tag, under penalty of LAW!

Actually, if you are the end consumer, you can remove it. But I'd rather not risk a midnight door-busting visit by the mattress cops.
