What is the source of the Bruce Matthews laughed at or was unimpressed with our OL practice drills and our OL blocking schemes? Inside Texas Top 100 has offers and interest level for some players. For Matthews they show offers from a number of schools, but interest level for only two, USC and UT, both listed as high.
LISD149, we should also have had A&M along with Texas and USC, as high interest. That's how we reported it in our Inside Scoop last week (along with info debunking the story about Bruce Matthews at practice) and I just made that change to his database page.
Wouldn't the Horns coaches be implementing a "best practices" approach with the highest skill levels for college and pros when it comes to development and play of linemen?
I can imagine that Jake's dad brings to the conversation all he has experienced and learned from many years as a top pro lineman, so they (Jake and his dad) may be shopping for a college program that Dad approves of. Just guessing.
Do we (Texas) have the best approach to offensive line play?
Not knowing what his father thinks about UT's blocking scheme, I have to ask what effect would it have if A&M is truly trying to learn how to incorporate the Lake Travis High School system into their offense? I know it was Texags, but there were some on there saying that A&M would have a good shot at his commitment since they were running a pro-style offense and Sherman was such an offensive line guru. If they're going to the LT offense, the blocking schemes would definitely change.
In any event, I think it will come down to USC and Texas for his commitment, but I'm not counting out A&M totally at this point.
People need to quit reading barking carnival, that sight is a joke and the people who write on it are doing so with an agenda. They see something wrong with the program and feel it is their duty to use that forum to make stuff up just to prove they are right.
Their take on Bruce Matthews had no quote and was nothing more than hearsay.
SCIPIO TEX of Barking Carnival is a clever, insightful writer who is obsessed with Greg Davis. Much of what the rest of the regulars write is difficult for me to read. Most seem to be as concerned with imitating ST's comic style as they do with offering something interesting. Maybe if you can get past the contrived writing style, there is some astute analysis of Big 12 sports. I can't.
I suspect the Bruce Matthews' story originated on Carnival. Even for internet blogs/message boards, the story seems awfully light on background.
