Matt Campbell?

The question always seems to be can a coach handle the factions and politics of being the Texas HC. Not just the Xs and Os of it.

Also, he is young enough I doubt he would lay the hammer down on BS like we have seen from this current squad of players.

Seems to be a good Xs and Os guy, though from what he as done at ISU.

I think these are both very good points. He's done a great job at Iowa State. You'd have to go back to the late 70's to find the last time ISU had three winning seasons in a row and to my knowledge they'd never gone to three straight bowl games until he got there. I'm actually surprised a bigger school hasn't picked him up yet.

He's 26-25 overall. Had a couple good seasons but overall just average. It seems he was really hot then struggled the last couple seasons.

Agree 100%.
Austin Texas Longhorns are a mess and it goes waaay deeper than the coach. Anyone who cant see this is in denial.
Only a major power player head coach with rock solid resume, credentials, rep, media perception, and nerves and balls of steel comes in here and turns this around.

Who could you possibly be referring to other than Urban Meyer? Saban and Swinney are non-starters. Am I the only one who remembers Zach Smith? Wouldn't bother me as much as some but still.

Yep...
It's a real real real short list. I keep searching for names and haven't found more than one for the "list."
Not giving up, though

Dave,

As much as it bothers me, I can accept Urban Myth, but I'd rather take Tom Osborne or Howard "Where's the Scotch" Schnellenberger than Tressel

Absolutely correct. What CDC needs to do is get Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer, and whatever other coaches who he thinks can get the job done and has won a Power 5 Conference title and played in the CFP in a room. CdC lays $20 million (or more) on the table in 4 equal piles lays down the ground rules:

* 2 Year Contract with a rolling 2 year 10% per year increase renewal at the school's option
* Whatever is in one of the piles 50% bonus for winning the Conference plus another 50% for getting to the CFP.

In addition to the pay pool:
* If the ticket and merchandise revenue exceeds a number provided by CdC annually another $1.5 million
* A fair recruiting budget for all out of state recruiting
* An higher recruiting budget for in-state recruiting

Except:

Any proven beef or allegation from the Big XII or the NCAA reduces pay for that year by 50% with no bonuses. If any beef or allegation is proven after the coach leaves the program and all bonus money paid over the period of employment will be clawed back.

Going out on a limb, but CDC does not have the negotiating leverage here ... just be happy if Urban says yes ... his terms

Meyer really?

Those are really to only two that can get the job done and will be available. Sweeny, Saban and anyone else qualified have a job.
Doubt Stoops and his ticker want the stress of the candy *** players only a few years removed from his sudden retirement.

Keep trying. We you get him on the line be sure to tell him that if he is successful, he will have a front row seat to see his son play twice a year.

You have to much time on your hands. Go down to the bank, borrow a couple hundred dollars and buy American Airlines. You will not have to worry about seniority again. Of course revenue accounting will want to know why lifetime first class passes to "HornFans".

Royal:
MS State - 12-8
Washington - 5-5
UT (age 33) 184-60-5

Favorite quote tells the story and applies today.
“Don’t matter what they throw at us. Only angry people win football games.”
That has been the difference in Texas teams and their opponents for too many years. They continue to be soft between the ears. Royal beat better teams and that was the reason.

I definitely have too much time on my hands right now.
