Mass retirements at the Statesman.

[Third Coast]

It's a sign of the times that print media is going the way of the dinosaur, as the Austin American-Statesman announces another round of "retirements" this week. Seventeen in all, including long time sports writers Mark Rosner, Randy Riggs, John Maher and Mike Leggett.

All is not lost though, as Longhorn fan favorites Kirk Bohls and Cedric Golden have avoided the virtual axe ...for the time being.

I remember when John Maher did the job Kirk Bohls is doing now. He was perhaps the only columnist with consistently worse opinion and analysis than Kirk. Pretty pathetic that he maintained a newspaper job in any capacity (beyond floor sweeper) for this long.

Son of a fuckity **** ****. I got excited momentarily at the headline. But I see that the Statesman will retain their short bus caliber Bohls.

I used to enjoy the outdoor pieces by Leggett.
