RIVALS is in the process of releasing their new rankings in the wake of the all star games.

Mason Walters grabbed a 5th star and is now one of three five star recruits that Texas has committed.

J. McFarland was not only undersized but not impressive and lost a star.

Chris Whaley is back up into the national top 100 (91st) after his excellent all-star week.

Calvin Howell was much bigger than McFarland and looked much more ready to play. He really iimpressed folks in San Antonio.

If we could just get one of Kirkpatrick or Kennard (esp Kennard) this might be Mack's best class ever.

Coming on top of last year's completely stacked class, by FAR the best two year group during Mack's tenure.

This coming class is going to enjoy a lot ---- A LOT ---- of national success.

It's really quite amazing, how efficient Mack and crew are at finding, isolating, and evaluating talent in the state of Texas.

Yay!

Is Howell going to be ranked higher than McFarland, I know they are both 4-stars, but it would be justice to have mcFarland looking up at Howell in the rankings.

I also think Howell got 5-stars in 'smack talking' at the All Star game.

Well deserved by all.

thanks for sharing this... very good news. McFarland deserves to drop and not because he didn't pick UT. Keeping my fingers crossed re: Kennard & Kilpatrick

I like these 2 + 5 stars and 12+ 4 stars classes that longhorn football has had 3 out of the last 4 years.

Nothing against Hornius, but I doubt many would consider last year's recruiting class "stacked." Sure, there were a few studs in there, but overall most would only consider it "above average" (nationally speaking)...relatively sub-par by Texas standards. Per Rivals, our 2008 class was ranked #14 with 12 4*s and no 5*s...a mere two spots ahead of aggy. In contrast, this year is shaping up to be a top 5 take as the latest update puts us at #3 with 12 4*s and 3 5*s -- STACKED.

we currently have the 2nd highest average star rating: 3.89 (behind USC of course)

Comparison:
Texas: 3 Five Stars - 11 Four Stars - 5 Three Stars
OU: 0 Five Stars - 8 Four Stars - 13 Three Stars
A&M: 1 Five Stars - 4 Four Stars - 21 Three Stars

Having a great recruiting year once again. Top 5 by all accounts.

I really enjoyed watching Howell in the Army game. His family was sitting in front of us in the lower section (I was on the club level). That looks like a fun family!

Someone needs to check the traffic at FedEx. Aggy is doing better than their on the field record would suggest.
