Mark Cuban is a Douchebag, Part 237

Are you in the league? Who are your sources?

Rasheed Wallace used to get technicals quite often and I didn't see many people considering him a dirty player. He just let his emotions get the best of him.

I've watched NBA basketball for 40+ years. Probably before you were born and he's a punk. It's not like I have film of him handy to post to you.

That's fine and dandy, but did you know that Kobe Bryant has been served more technicals than Kenyon Martin has since around the 2001-2002 season? Granted I consider Kobe a dirty, smug *******.

In fact, the last 2 seasons K-Mart has been served the same number of technicals as CP3.

Look, Cuban is a douche. No arguments there. But Martin is on that team as an enforcer. He can't cover Dirk. He's there to throw body shots (see game 1).

Who can compete with Dirk in both size and ability for the Nuggets? Whether Denver goes big or athletic they're giving up something on Dirk.

Look, if we were watching the K-Mart that played for Huggins at Cincinnati or even early NBA Martin, I could maybe understand.

Honestly, I put Martin and Artest in the same category: players with blind aggression. They're guys who have had to adapt to the style of play in the NBA. I would argue they both have done a fairly successful job as they have both cut down on fouls over their careers..

There are no statistics for being a bit of a thug....it goes back to his days at Cincinnati when that team was littered with thugs. It's just an opinion, man. I'm not asking you to believe it.

I have a general dislike of professional basketball and don't really root for anyone outside of LeBron and against the Lakers, so I guess at the moment I am a Rockets fan.

I'm just curious as to how everyone just KNOWS that Martin is a thug or a punk.

Your example of Martin placing an elbow on the back of Nowitzki on a post-up is what every NBA player does down low. It's an attempt at pivot control and forcing the opposing player high or low, whichever way you want him to go. That's called defense, not a cheap shot.

To put this topic back on track (although I admittedly derailed it), Cuban is irrelevant and a punk. Even I can't imagine Kenyon Martin going up to Cuban's mom to talk smack.

Cuban is a hardcore fan with a lot of money, so he bought the team. He acts like a beligerent fan, not an owner. He loves the Mavs, and he just wants them to win...albeit he gets really pissed off when they lose and this stuff happens.

In his defense, it was not like he sought out Martin's mom and got in her face and said something. I don't know if anyone else has seen the clip, but it was "in passing". That being said....110% uncalled for and absolutely ridiculous.

You know someone has a weak argument when they have to resort to the old "I've watched _______ for (insert era of time)".

Bill Laimbeer was a thug.

Balboa, dont forget to add Dalys "Bad Boy" Pistons also, they were thugs, and are considered one of the great NBA championship group of players ever. Its the playoffs, the Nuggs-Mavs series isnt anywhere close to the BS thats goin on in the Rockets-Lakers series. Sounds like alot of Mavs fans are very bitter about game 3 and cant get over it. Like someone said earlier, the Mavs were not going to win this series regardless.

Someone name a championship team that didn't have a "thug" or a "dirty player". You need guys like that on your team. If you get labeled "soft" then you are screwed. Refs always favor a team that is the aggressor.

I'm a Dallas resident and a casual Mavs fan. And, yes, Mark Cuban is a douche-bag.

His passion and energy as an owner are great. His willingness to spend money to win (not just in payroll, but in the total player experience) is fantastic.

But, God love him, the guy just can't seem to comport himself with class as an owner, particularly when things don't go his and the Mavs' way.

Frankly, Cuban reminds me of a lot of Longhorn fans I know.
