Mark Adams suspended at TTech

Tech coach Adams' comment 'racially insensitive'

Our coach gets a little physical with his live-in, and theirs quotes Bible verses about slaves serving their masters. Same-same, right?

There’s so much more going on with Adams than an awkward bible quote…timing is interesting…Tech’s season ended yesterday for all intents and purposes, and a situation that was dealt with with a written reprimand was reopened with a suspension and an investigation.

Abilene Christian appears to be a better fit for Adams.

Imagine if Beard had told his crazy fiancée that wives should serve their husbands. Not only would Beard been fired, he would have been tarred and feathered on his way out.

Would quoting the Bible be enough of a cause to fire him? Didn't he get a hefty extension last year?

Not sure what Adams said but our culture today is in such poor state that anything can offend anyone and if offended, its destroy and punish the person at all costs. 2 years ago tech was begging Adams to stay and not go with Beard. They had a disappointing season for sure but lots of teams have had tough years. Perhaps Adams was living off Beards recruits and style?? Either way, the man should get a fair shake without the twitter mob annihilating him. If he screwed up, own it and let the chips fall. Not sure tech can absorb financial blunders like Texas did with strong and herman.

Maybe the ACU ('ACC') of the 50s, 60s, or 70s, but not the ACU of today. There's a reason that West Texas Campbellites are sending their kids to Harding or Libscomb these days.

Legally, probably not and yes to extension. If fired for that quote, I'd say Adams would have a heck of an argument about a government institution suppressing his first amendment right. Surely, even Tceh is smart enough to know that, which is why now there's a spitting incident (and of course, the real problem is that Adams went 5-13 in Big 12 play - tied for last - this year).

Adams’ marital history could also have something to do with Tech “investigating” him. I imagine they’ll be looking for anything and everything to justify getting rid of him. The scripture referred to slaves obeying their masters, so I’m not sure why he thought that would be inspiring to his team

Rumor of multiple guys leaving long before this issue. As stated before, this destroy someone for a mistake will hopefully run its course. Tech is an abysmal place to live and go to school but no one deserves the hatchet job currently being done on adams. Since adams is a religious person, perhaps let the ones without sin cast the first stone???

The marital history, while tawdry & scandalous, isn’t really the issue. His family, including the ex-wife, is ok with how everything played out. There’s no drama there per se. The “power” Adams has bestowed upon his son, Luke, is more of an issue in the locker room with players and staffers, than the new wife. Now I think for the donors, and their wives, the long term affair with the twin brother’s wife and ultimately marrying her, is not a good look. It really caused lots of people to rethink their ‘Adams is a lovable, grandfatherly, Christian fellow we can trust’ mindset.

Yes, I didn’t mean to imply that it should have an impact, just that the Tech AD may be looking for a lot of things to add up to letting him go.

Have the actual verses Adams used been made public?

I don't think so. I'm also not sure he quoted or paraphrased the Bible, if that matters. I don't think it does, unless the paraphrasing was wrong. For example:

Quote:
"Hey man, the Bible says for God so loved the world, that he sent his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Paraphrase:
"Hey man, God loves you so much that he sent Jesus to die for you to get into heaven."

Get wrong:
"Hey man, Jesus died for your sins so do whatever you want in life!"

And somebody out there thinks the last one is actually correct...

Talked to my brother today; BIG tceh fan, alum, doner. He said it goes far beyond the Bible verse. Mark screwing his brother's wife/widow didn't rest well with some of the Brownfield CoC ladies; apparently Mark also missed some practices while "entertaining" his sister-in-law. I hear he pissed off several NIL contributors who threatened to withhold their cash. He (my brother) said Mark has done 0 recruiting HS kids expecting to cash in on the transfer portal but losing virtually all his NIL clout. Add in the locker room chaos created by his son... Kirby (according to bro) had no choice but to cut him lose. Mark was offered a deal to leave quietly which he declined iniatially, accepting a smaller deal (as yet announced) now to quietly step out the back door. Word on the street in Lubbock re: parties interested in the job include Beard (yes, THAT Beard), Rick Patino, Steve Alfred & others. Quite a Peyton Place going on out on the Llano Estacado.

Leviticus 25:44-46 is what I heard

Here's the Bible verse you cite, Leviticus 25:44-46:

44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly."

Hmmmmmmmm, sounds more like an Ole Miss sort of verse, but if that's what today's Tech leadership is preaching to their athletes...

:miss::tech:

On a similar note, here's a Bible verse to preach to the lads at Texas A&M:

Leviticus 20:15 MSG
“If a man has sex with an animal, he must be put to death and you must kill the animal.

:atm:

What was all the hubbub about Amaq being pressured to come back from his injury before he was ready earlier this season? Rumors he was transferring because he was pissed off (at Adams) and next thing you know he’s making a surprise debut against Texas. Had me thinking an NIL money boost changed his attitude.

On another note I wonder how much money it’d take to get Rick Pitino to live in Lubbock. I’m guessing a TON.

Soon after Adams was hired Kirby got wind of the 20+ year sister in law affair and told Adams to “clean that mess up NOW”. I think Kirby meant, cut the side chick loose, and fix things with your wife. But Adams cut the wife loose, and married the side chick instead. (Side chick is an upgrade btw)

There isn't enough money to get either Pitino or Calipari to Lubbock.
Now if Furman is calling.........
Or Wofford..............
