mario galaxy question

trying to get the secret star in the freezeframe galxy.

I can not jump up the second set of water spouts and onto the platform. how do i do that triplejump somersault thing?

* blowing up the garbage and the stupid rocky road thing are impossible for me, as is beating the rocky armed dude without taking one point of damage.

i do have 60 stars. should I jut go in to the center of the universe?

*** this is the geekiest post i have ever made on here.
 
I went ahead and beat the story once I hit 60 stars, you can continue the game after you beat him and get the other stars.

The blowing up the garbage just takes practice. Try to land the bombs right on the little golden spots on the ground. If you miss any of them, you won't have time to do it again.

There are two of those trash clearing levels at least.

The rocky road took me a few attempts, but eventually got there.

The 3 levels once you activate the green star make all the other levels seem easy. Those levels are sick.


As for that freezeflame level, I may be wrong on exactly what you are talking about, but I believe the only way to make it up the water spouts is to have the ice-mario power up. The spouts freeze and you can stand on top of them.
 
That was a tough star to get. You do the triple jump to get up, which is just three jumps in one direction without stopping or hitting anything. It is as important where you start as anything. Once you get up there, it stays pretty hard though.

*Rocky Armed dude... the trick is to choose a direction to run, and don't stop running unless a black ghost is close enough to grab, or you've turned him into a floating head. I went counter clockwise, I recommend it... in any event if you backtrack you are toast.

* * You might as well go to the center, so you can finish. Once done, you'll watch the credits but then you can jump right back in and keep playing the other leels if you like.

ALSO... has anyone tried Zack and Wiki? It is a straight puzzler, but I'm loving it.
 
yeah, I have Zack and Wiki. I recommended it on here a few weeks ago.

It's kind of taken a back seat to Mario, but Z&W is fun. I'll go back to it and finish it when I'm done with Mario. I also recently got Metroid Prime 3, so I'm squeezing that one in, too.

Whenever I am running around the main level, I just practice triple jumping. You just jump right when you hit the ground. The hardest part of the ice level is trusting that the ice will let you do the triple jump. I did it about 100 times before I got it the first time. After that I'm able to do it every 3-5 tries. It's just all timing. You have to do this level again with the purple stars, so you'll have to do this again.

The poster above nailed it with move in the same direction. I also went counter clockwise.

I have beaten one garbage level, but I haven't beaten the second one yet.

I will say that I waited until I had 100 stars or so before I beat the entire thing. You cannot get all of the stars until you beat Bowser, so you might as well do it when you want to - since you already have the 60 stars.
 
still struggling on the same level. the water/ice spout jump is no longer a problem. that IS a problem is near the end, when you climb up and there are two ice bats and you do not have fireballs yet.

even when i get the firepower, those bats **** me up.

I just got a couple more stars, like the secret star on the dunes, and the 3rd green star. I may go check out the new galaxies.

before I fight the final dude, i may do the in and out of the kitchen deal to collect a **** ton of 1-ups. that is a pretty useful trick.

I also jsut beat the frosty cosmic mario race.

hot and cold collide was a ***** too.

* how bad is the secret star on the dusty dune galaxy, "bullet bill on your back".
 
regarding the garden:

it shows up o the map. however, my guess is that I have to beat the final dude and get the last grand star to actually travel there, right?

now I am stuck with nothing but the 4 or so level I have been putting off.

I keep getting pissed and saying that I am quitting, but I can not. f video games,.
 
beat bouldergeist in comet battle. yeah me. now, for some stupid reason, i can not beat those ******* penguins in the race.
 
eat it penguins! less use of the joystick was the key. you think you are going faster by flailing around, but you are not. jsut a few taps here and there to avoid obstacles is all that is required.

oh, when i unlocked the red star at the gate, my flying skills SUCK. any tips on that?
 
The red star at the gate... the trick to remember is that it is not timed. About half are in the air, the other half are on the ground. For the ring around the gate, the trick is to fly gently in a single curve picking up as many you can. Do the rest as one offs. Take you time, don't stress, and don't forget the gateworld is hollow.
 
while flying you can hold "A" and you'll hover in air and you can get your bearings. Little red lines will point out from your hands showing you the way you are pointing.

The same thing works when holding a shell underwater. You can stop and get your bearings without dropping the shell.
 
Zelda and Mario are awesome on Wii. Sounds like I've got some work to do on galaxy to get to where everyone else is talking about though.
 
I've got 1 star to go until I unlock the center of the universe. Just spent 2 goddamned hours trying to beat that bonefish galaxy, but I finally did it.
 
I am at 111 stars right now.

I dont think I triple jumped on that water spout level. I think I did a back flip jump kinda angled at the perpendicular wall and jumped off the wall to reach the platform.

One tip on the garbage bomb level. Bombs can detonate other bombs. So you even if you don't have enough time you can get an extra explosion if you place the last bomb close to one that will explode.

I think the purple comet level with the moving platform has been my least favorite so far.
 
I won it at 91 stars (finished every regular level and did some comets and all the greens and some secrets)

now at 96

need to finish this thing off
