Scroll to the bottom of the article to see his name.

Don't know if anyone read the article on ESPN.com about this kid. Graduated from Hampton University after spending 15 months in jail in Georgia for statutory rape. Similar circumstances to Genarlow Wilson.

Looks like he changed his life around (no trouble whatsoever since he was released from prison) and wish the best to him and the Cowboys.

He's a rapist really? He was accused of it and the verdict didn't hold up. The legal system in where it took place is accused of being racist which more than likely lead to him doing jail time in the first place. Did you even read the article? Those are some harsh words there.

I've read lots of articles on it, and read the GA Supreme Court majority opinion and dissent. Dixon wasn't just "accused," he was convicted. He then became a cause celebre in Atlanta, and won a reversal based on some shoddy legal reasoning. It doesn't change the fact that he's a rapist (unlike Genarlow Wilson).

Seems like I saw an episode of Law & Order similar to this. Black male and white female teenagers are in a relationship and when the girl's parents find out she claims rape out of fear of her racist father.

The facts are that the jury acquitted him of the rape, battery, assault and false imprisonment charges in 20 minutes, but had no choice but to convict him of statutory rape since the girl was just shy of 16 years old.

Regardless of the circumstances, hopefully he can put it behind him and move on with his life.

So are you labeling him as a rapist based on the statutory rape charge? I'm assuming you're basing it on the actual rape charge that he wasn't convicted of.

Laphroaig10, it appears you are embarrassingly wrong. The jury determined it was consensual sex. What the hell else do you want?

i read a lot about that dixon kid... talk about getting the shaft. i hope he dominates with the cowboys and is getting his chance. definitely a tough young life.

Third Coast, I was actually to type those exact same words. The Cowboys have a successful history of dealing with athletes with suspect criminal histories or team cohesion problems/malcontents; i.e. Terrell Owens and Tank Johnson.

Sorry but I can't see what evidence the jury considered that it wasn't supposed to. The statute merely states that the act has to be "against her will." Georgia Statutes Annotated. Section 16-6-1. The jury would be entitled to consider all evidence that goes to the question of whether or not the act was "against her will," not whether or not there was any resistance to the act. The jury knew that the act took place and couldn't have considered whether or not there was resistance. It did find, however, that the act wasn't against her will.

In the end, the jury simply didn't believe what the girl was saying on the stand. It is entitled to do this because it is the trier of fact in a criminal case. Had you been on the jury, you might have believed her, but just because the jury didn't doesn't mean the jury screwed up.
