Much like the men that signed the American Declaration of Independence, these men signed their names to a document stating that Texas was now an independent nation. They did so knowing that if they failed, their property, their lives and the lives of their family would most likely be forfeit by the Mexican Army.

I wish the State of Texas and the people would recognize/do a little more for this day. It just seems like it gets brushed under the rug and "hidden."

I'm proud to be a Texan and Texas Independence Day is going to become a something greater in my lifetime...

now I just have to figure out how...:
