manual transmission service in austin

my 2000 celica gts 6 speed manual transmission is acting up. anyone know of any good places in austin that services transmissions that they know and trust?

if you happen to service transmissions, the gears aren't "catching." i have to gun the engine a bit to engage first gear, and when accelerating through 2nd and third (and sometimes 4th and maintaining speed in fifth and 6th on grades) i'll get an rpm "race." the rpm jumps up, about 500-1000, then falls back down as the gear "catches."

obviously, i'm not a car guy.

Not an expert, but could your clutch be slipping?

How many miles do you have?

Wait for accuratehorn to come around and give the definitive answer.

I had some work done at Eagle transmission last month after accurate's recommendation. It was very reasonably priced, done the same day, great service all around.

However, I do drive an automatic now, but I was very pleased. I went to the one up on Burnet, but I was down on manchaca last night and saw a location there, too. At least I assume it's the same company.

It sounds like the clutch is worn out, or way out of adjustment. We can drive it and tell you if the problem is in the transmission itself or in the clutch. You can wear out a clutch by 56k, but you would probably be a pretty hard on the clutch driver-all stop and go city driving, or stoplight bandit driving.
We can replace the clutch-670-1275 is the phone (David)
