I am thicking of taking the wife up to Austin for a weekend in February. I was wondering what the opinion of this place is as far as a nice bed and breakfast to stay at is concerned. It is fairly pricy, but I need something nice and romantic. They apparently offer a romantic package for another $100, which might do the trick. How close is this place to all the sights?? Thanks.

We haven't stayed there, but we ate there a few times about a year ago. Food was awesome. They gave us a tour of some of the rooms, and it looks like a great place to stay. Location is cool, just west of Guadalupe on MLK. You can walk to campus from there, but if you're headed downtown, it's a cab ride.

I haven't been there, but I recall an article in the paper a few months ago in which they revealed that their restaurant's chef had suddenly bailed for another job out of state and that the sous chef (I believe) had taken over. Food for thought, so to speak.

That sucks about the chef, as the food was excellent. I believe he came over from Zoot, did he not? Hopefully the sous chef can keep it up.

Our Christmas party was there and I was sorely disappointed. Didn't think it was excpetional. The menu choices were pretty typical and the food was ok, not great.
