Manor Road Restaurants?

Which section of Manor Rd has been revitalized? I keep seeing it in Real Estate ads with something to the tune of, "walk to the great restaurants of Manor Rd" or something similar. Where exactly are we talking about, and what has been done?

I've been gone for 5 years and it's, well, it's a bit different around here.

referring to the stretch just east of 35 from Dean Keeton to just west of Airport

You have a number of good resturants, coffee shops, etc withing walking distance of each other

Vivo
El Chile
El Chilito
East Side Cafe
Mi Madres
Hoovers
Clementine Coffee
Stortini
Red House Bar

the neighborhood around the area still has suspect parts, but it's definitely a cool area that we frequent

Thanks, I'll have to get down there and check out the area, lots of new **** to explore around here. It's quite startling to drive past Mueller on 35 and see a home depot where 727's used to land.

What's the vibe like around that block? Upscale? Urban mix? I'm fairly certain that hole in the wall wouldn't describe it.

Austin history trivia question:
Name the business that formerly occupied the bldg. Hoovers is now in?
Hint: It was good for beer and snacks between the games of a doubleheader.

The changes are about to go faster too with the train coming in. That whole Featherlight tract where the train station is going in is changing. There will be more housing and tons of businesses going in as well. There will be businesses facing MLK with housing above them.

Those of you that used to speed down MLK to get places, prepare for the tickets to begin. It is getting reigned in for the trains and the traffic flow. It will have a sort of Triangle type vibe but hopefully less douchey.

I still can't believe there is a bar in that old house behind what used to be John Muellers BBQ. I used to eat in that house when I didn't want to eat inside Muellers (and in turn smell like smoke the rest of the day).

The Mi Madre's people will be making the house next to them into a night establishment. The food will be awesome as one of his son's will be doing the menu. A variety of music, good food and late night hours will be awesome. His son is a full fledged chef via C.I.A. He worked in San Diego but decided to come back to Austin when his wife (also a C.I.A. graduate and chef) was going to have their baby. So he came back to Austin.

It may be tapas and other things, we'll see. But I am excited about that. They have some remodeling and bldg. improvements to do but tha should get underway soon.
