Haven't been this worked up about a series with the Rangers in a long time...they've put themselves in a pretty good position, now let's see if they can take that wild card spot from the BoSox.

The Ballpark will be rockin' this weekend!!

It would be very nice to see the Ranger fans outnumber (and outcheer) the Red Sox fans - good chance that will happen this weekend.

Anyone else sick of Ron W bringing Eddie in in big situations? Last week, in a big game against the Angels, he came in and I said to my wife, "here goes the game." Sure enough, he gives up a homer. Tonight, of course I say the exact same words to my wife and he gives up a homer. How in the world do we trust him to come into a big game and not suck.

I have a lot of dirty words for that sorry a$$ pitcher......Please cut him tomorrow morning unless you plan on only pitching him in blowouts. I cant stand giving up wins (the LAA game and BOS games are huge) in these situations where we need big wins.

Dude, why the hell did Wash wait until Francisco gave up 6 f-ing runs to pull him?!? He looked off from the first hitter and never had his best fastball all night. He normally can reach back and bring it 95-96 mph. During the Martinez AB, he just couldn't do any better than 92-93 and never could finish him off. Location wasn't bad, but he relies upon that little extra to get by hitters and make his change more effective. He just didn'nt have it and you could tell by how nervous he looked. He was taking way too much time in between pitches and looked terrified. He only truly got one out as the Bucholtz out was a gift. I just don't understand the mentality of not getting anyone up behind him until after the lead had been surrendered.

The last time we lost a heart-breaker like this (oakland a couple of weeks ago) we went on to lose the next two in heartless fashion. I just hope that this team has the resiliancy to bounce back tomorrow. I still don't trust that Holland will bring his A game every outing and I think he's going to put more pressure on himself to win- I hope I'm wrong.

Also, I hope that they don't just give kinsler back his spot. Omar has been hitting better than kinsler did before he went down and he's definitely and upgrade defensively.

During that 9th inning, I was upset, but now I'm just plain mad. The Rangers are in a pennant race, for crissakes, and we just simply cannot have these late-inning meltdowns.

It's the 9th, in your mind you've already done the math: you've moved ahead of Boston in the Wild Card standings and subtracted a full game on the Angels because they finally lost a game, then BOOM! Your closer blows up again and you're no better off in one race and worse off in the other.

I've suffered so long with this team that it ought not bother me. But it does. I want to win, godammit. I'm sick and tired of losing.

Earlier poster hit the nail on the head. Francisco did not have his normal velocity tonight. He couldn't really challenge guys with those 92-93 mph fastball, and when he put them over the plate he got jolted.

The notion that you get your job back automatically upon return from injury is ********; no way in hell Frankie should be closing for us until he shows he's 100%...I'm with everyone else, throw the kid out there in that situation. At least his mistakes are still going 100+ MPH...

who would you rather have than Frank? I don't think that CJ has it in him to be a top notch closer. The kid tries to hard to be intimidating that he loses his head in big situations. Despite many peoples hatred for CJ the kid has some NASTY stuff.

Frankie had an off night and it happens. Before he was injured he was virtually unhitable. I feel more comfortable with Francisco in there 9 out of 10 times than I do with CJ.

I think it is time to give thanks and wave good bye to Eddie. I would keep CJ in the setup with possibly mixing in Feliz from time to time.

Isn't it weird that after all of these years of not having any solid pitching that next season we may be short of spots for the talent we have? This team could use one more big stick in the lineup to have a better chance down the stretch.

I have been very critical of CJ previously, but he has been pretty damn solid lately. He still makes me nervous, but he has got some filthy stuff that makes some pretty good hitters look silly.

Frankie just didn't look right last night. I hope it was just an off night and not a sign that he's still hurt.

CJ can be scary but did you see his home numbers they showed last night? He is solid in Arlington.

Just glad the Angels lost too.

I have followed the Rangers for almost 30 yrs and they have assembled a team with more potential than any in their history.

This team has the potential to be very, VERY good. They could have a rotation consisting of three players under 24 (Feliz, Holland, and Hunter). A lineup consisting of:

1B - Justin Smoak who is one of the top ranked prospects in all of baseball and is 22 yrs old

2B - Kinsler - Already an All-Star. 27 yrs old.

SS - Elvis Andrus - #1 Prospect in baseball last year. Insane range, can hit for avg, may already be top 5 defensive SS in game already. 21 yrs old

3B - Michael Young - 6x All Star, Gold Glove winner, Batting Champ, 33 yrs old but a lot of tread left on the tires. Ultimate team player.

Catcher - Saltalamachia - Another former #1 prospect. Solid defensively can hit for power, 24 yrs old

RF Nelson Cruz - Breakout yr for Cruz. Named All-Star, great power great speed. 28 yrs old.

CF Hamilton - 2 time All Star, everyone knows about his power. He has had a rough year but look for him to finish strong. Age - 27

LF - Julio Borbon Future leadoff man. May be the fastest in rangers system. 23 Yrs old.

This is a very YOUNG and VERY talented team. This doesn't take into account Murphy, Byrd, German, Teagarden, Chris Davis and Hank Blalock.

Also, this team is all signed up for the near future except for Hamilton (who will be a FA after '09 I believe). I would be shocked if he wasn't a Ranger in 2010.

I can't ever remember being this excited about the rangers future.

Yee-haw!!!!

Everybody stepping up when their number is called. Playing very tough, very tough right now. Go T Square. Carpe Diem.

Leaving for Russia for 3 weeks - hope you guys have got us with, at a minimum, the Sawx and Rays in our rearview mirrors and may-be the An-gels....Oh well, we can dream.

Go Rangers, Go Horns!

Ohhh, and the sweep was right there for the taking. Up 2 runs in the 9th Friday.....Oh well, taking 2 of 3 is nice.

It's not just taking two of three that was nice, it was how they took two of three - speed, smart baserunning, timely hitting, great defense, and superb pitching. Those are the ingredients of a winning baseball team. I have no clue why they dominate the AL West, win against the East, and can't handle the Central. If they had done better against the Central, they would be running away with the division.

There's still a lot of season to go, but I like what I've seen so far - both for this season and for the long-term future.

HHD: I would like to add interleague play to the Central as the reasons why the Rangers are not winning the West. We were terrible in interleague games, while the Angels were great. That right there is where the shift took place (even though we did not lose 1st for a week or so afterwards).
