Malkin on The Donald

I hope Trump goes deep into the primaries but ultimately losses to a good candidate. The reason being is for some weird reason many on the left seem scared of him and have already started attacking. Thus with the left attacking, Trump should be very entertaining.

Well, the piece above is stupid. If you owned a casino and wanted to expand, and there was a home owner that was keeping youfrom expanding, what would you do? Well, the obvious answer is to offer more money than it was worth and if that didn't work, ask for some help. The wrong answer would be to not try to expand.

Really? You think it's stupid that a homeowner should have the right to stay in their home? isn't that the ultimate violation of the conservative ideal of individual rights not being taken away by the government?

Can you imagine GOP debates between Sarah Palin and Donald Trump? I wouldn't want to risk them being the only two remaining GOP candidates for the nomination, but, man, I'd sure get a kick out of watching that debate.

I can't imagine Trump is getting traction based on anything other than name recognition and vague notions of what he is all about (the usual qualifications for high office), but I think he'll fizzle like Fred Thompson under the bright lights.

Trump shouldn't be a serious candidate and neither should Palin. Both are lightweights in the political world while having some nice value in their private lives for different reasons.

Trump probably likes what he is currently getting from the Obama Adminstration and is looking to keep it around by splitting away, Perot style, a segment of the R voting population. Hopefully a strong R candidate will emerge. I'm not hopeful.

As bad as Obama has been it looks like he will be the man again unless a R candidate comes forward who shows more promise than what is currently being seen.(maybe someone currently being seen will step it up)

If the budget deficits don't get under control it won't matter who is president.

Trump is simply following the Palin business model. Fill the current vacuum, say outlandish things about Obama, and take the money of the idiots who believe the birther nonsense.

No, but apparently you are. As for your irrelevant post regarding the Church. If the church wants to protest a funeral or gays or whatever, they have that right according to the courts. If you don't want them protesting then try to change the law.

Uniformed,

We're questioning your premise while you want only to use your narrow example justifying your premise. The alternatives scenarios including my slavery example seem to fit your premise. You don't like that, so you refuse to deal with it.

Not sure what you mean by "jumping the shark."

Ok, so a party full of people opposed to gays getting wed because it's an "affront to the sanctity of marrriage" is gong to seriously consider Donald Trump, who if his wedding vows reflected reality would sound a lot like those of Ming the Merciless in Flash Gordon: Priest: Do you, Ming the Merciless, Ruler of the Universe take this Earthling, Dale Arden to be your Empress of the hour?
Ming: (pause) of the hour, Yes.
Priest: Do you promise to use her as you will?
Ming: (pause, then very slyly) Certainly!
Priest: Not to blast her into space?
Ming: (silence)
Priest: ....Until such time as you get the whim....?
Ming: I do.

I guess I'm saying that when serious Republicans get serious about presidential nominees, Trump won't be a serious contender. Indulging birther fantasies may create some favorable numbers for now, but of all the Republicans I know, and that's pretty much 3/4 of everybody I know, I can't imagine any writing a check in support of Mr. Trump.
