in a 27-7 win over Austin High : 15 carries for 184 yds 2 TD's

Season: 5 games, 99 carries for 1012 yards and 10 Td

Just keep in mind hes doing this against players his size or smaller.

He could have a breakout season next year, but I dont expect him to be that prolific as a freshman.

Well he cant be less productive than what we have right now. Hes just not gonna come out and rush for 1500 yards as true freshman, at least not the way our line is blocking. I just dont want people to put the weight of the world on his shoulders. Hes big and powerful, but hes not running up against a D1 defensive line and linebackers ans big or bigger than he is. I hope he comes in and has success for sure.

Does his high school utilize a blocking scheme of some sort? I hear this helps with the running game.

The fear is that Texas' running game continues to be anemic and turns off Malcolm Brown, he decommits and go elsewhere. I'm hoping that doesn't happen. You know Alabama is saying "Look they can't run the ball, look we can run the ball".

This is not true. Go to their games and watch. 5A football does not have only 200 pound defensive lineman

Fortunately he is much more mature than many of our posters.

Bevaux,

Are you seriously suggesting that a typical high school defense boast players across the board as big and physical as those playing D1 football? What is the average size of a high school DL? Its LBs? Its secondary? Are there 300lbs high school DLs? Yes. Does the average HS have a line full of them? And are they nearly as athletic or powerful as the DL of UCLA? Absolutely not.

Malcolm is closer to 225 than 200 btw. Are you are saying that hes doing what hes doing against comparable players right now as he will face next year?

My whole point is that hes cleaning up against people his own age, which is awesome. And Im thrilled hes coming to Texas. If you cant beat the snot out of your own competition, then how are you going to do it against the next level? That said, Im not gonna just crown his *** yet as a savior. Thats not fair to Malcolm.

Oh and Leonard Davis as a senior in HS was still like 6'6 and 350.... and I think he went to a 2A HS or something. Problem is the entire line at his high school didnt average 6'5 300.

I think Malcom Brown can do do well next year, Texas will have 3 new starters with 3 of OL being seniors.
