Making room for Profar

Profar looks like he's major league ready -- the kind of guy readdy to start and be a major contributor for the next decade. Do you trade Andrus, for whom you could get a lot, to make space at Short? Do you use him to a lesser capacity at second and move Kinsler to the outfield or utility/dh spot where Young's capabilities are much diminished.
Andrus looks more muscular than Profar, but he hasn't yet hit for power. Profar has good home run production at 19. Looks like he can be a top of the order or a middle of the order bat.

I hope they move Kinsler to the outfield as Hamilton will most likely be gone and keeping Andrus makes the middle of the D very solid for years to come.

Infield of Moreland -Profar- Elvis -Beltre

Have to sign Elvis, give in to the Baseball Anti Christ (boras). Having that pair as a DP combo, it'll be sick for a long time

When Elvis gets older and Beltre hangs it up, move Elvis to 3b....soft hands, big arm will make him a defensive standout until he's 35 or so

Kinsler can move to LF or be the new MY. He's already signed long term. If he balks, trade him while there's value

But, i wouldn't do anything till 15 months from now...Profar has a huge swing, the holes WILL be found. Have to see if he can adjust....many don't

CanaTigers I totally agree with u. I hate to lose Josh but with history of injuries and huge contract he will demand it only makes since to put Kinsler in the outfield and have Elvis and profar in the infield. JD is a smart GM and has done one hell of a job putting this team together for years of winning.

I, like many people are content with Josh being gone. I still think they trade Elvis. How do you not trade the player who can bring the most? Reminds me of the Rangers trading Tex. perfect timing. Daniels has a chance to cement himself as the best GM in the history of the Rangers. He might already be, but if he can get three AAA talents for Elvis, like he did the 3-4 AAA talents for Tex, he's a shoe in-get his shirt ready for the Rangers hall of fame.

and I just remembered Elvis was one of those talents that the Rangers got for Tex, correct?

So, in effect trading Tex could possibly be responsible for the Rangers obtaining

.....7 AAA talents which could turn into 6 MLB starters? I'm not sure how many of the four were starters, wasn't there one who didnt' make it?

Elvis won't bring back anywhere near what Tex did. Power hitting 1b with the best glove and range, vs a SS....No chance. IMO Elvis is as valuable as it gets, but he won't bring back that kid of haul.

I like him here. He's one of the best 5 SS in baseball & not a bad actor. Profar has that big swing, it's going to have to be cut down at some point.

Him and Elvis would be the best DP combo in the history of the game....Wwhy in the world would you ditch that??

The haul from Tex was amazing. Feliz and Harrison in the starting rotation and Andrus in the field. A catcher now with the Bosox, Gerald Saltalamacchi also came over in the deal and he was a starter here for a time. It would be next to impossible to make such a trade again because not many organizations have that much talent on the cusp of being major league ready at the same time. It's a testament that Atlanta paid that price, essentially with nothing to show for it 24 months later, yet still field a team that is reasonably priced and a playoff contender. The only comparable farm organizations I know of are in Oakland, Tampa and Washington and they didn't get there by trading lots of prospects for major leaguers. They have tended to be on the other side of those kind of deals.

re: Tex....He had Boras for an agent, as does Elvis. Boras goes after one thing - $$$$$$$$. If we keep him it'll be b/c we overpaid per the market

This may be the one instance overpaying might be in order...but if he's asking for more than 12mill after his 6th yr, I can't see keeping him.

I remember this link from way back about Tex and Boras.....Tex used Boras to get his big contract, then fired him.....man bit dog sorta......Boras still gets full commision but clearly Tex saw Boras for the *** he was and cut ties
