Maid Service in Austin

It's time we hired professional help to tackle our amazing collection of pet hair.

Anyone have a maid service you recommend? I know there are several to choose from but I'd rather have a referral than blindly choose someone to come into our home.

When we first got a maid my girlfriend at the time, now my wife wanted me to pay for half of the maid service. I didn't think that was fair because I didn't do half of the house work so I didn't think it was fair I had to pay for half of the service.

I've used Affordable Cleaning for the past couple years. 55 every two weeks for a 1700 sq ft home. They do vacuume, dusting, changing sheets, bathrooms, kitchens, base boards, celing fans. Just curious, is it proper to tip them if they do a good job, especially when they don't work for themselves? Seems like anything that involves manual labor these days requires a tip.

what did "maid for you" charge you and how many sq ft? just curious, we had been thinking about switching.

ballrific--$103.50 for appox. 3300 sf. (although I think the rate was based on time required, not square footage--4 hours for our house.)
That rate included a $5 "distance" surcharge. The woman who cleaned for us is named Maria, in case you want to request her.
