maggots in the house - quickest way to kill 'em?

My damn cat brought a squirrel inside over the weekend while I was on vacation, and my house sitter didn't find it. So when I got home this afternoon to a nasty stench and was able to bag the dead thing, a bunch of maggots remain in the carpet. I've used roach killer spray to get them out of the carpet, but they're not dying off. I'd like to kill 'em before I clean up the mess, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Scoop'em up into a piece of tin foil, wrap, and roast over a fire ... they taste just like popcorn when done.

While you obviously don't want to ruin the carpet, bleach will vaporize them like the wicked witch of the west. Perhaps a colorfast test and then a spritz and rinse.

Go to the nearest trailer park, and tell people you are a producer of Fear Factor, and that tryouts are being held at your house............come hungry.

If you had my Dyson vacuum cleaner (as mentioned on another thread) you could suck those little dudes right up. When I saw the subject of this thread, I was going to type the exact same thing Deadhorse just did.

If anyone cares to know the current status, dead body was picked up long ago by COA Solid Waste dept. (curbside pickup, how can you beat that?), maggots were killed with lots of roach killer spray and subsequently vacuumed up, area was sprayed with Resolve and dabbed with paper towels, but slight odor of dead animal stench remains but is bearable and lessening with each passing day.

More importantly, I've shut the catdoor leading inside the house during times when I'm gone so I don't get any further "surprises".
