I'm moving into an apt out here in Richardson and I need some basic household items. I don't need high end stuff cuz this is just a 1-bedroom deal since we have a home in Illinois where my wife and kids are situated.

I hate having to spend my money on cr@p that's made in China, so if I'm gonna spend my money I'm gonna spend it on stuff Made in the U.S. of A. Stuff I'm looking for:

1.Vacuum cleaner - preferably non-steam but steam is fine too.
2. Indoor and outdoor (gas) grill. (I've got a small patio so a mini gas grill is all I can fit)
3. Sofa/sectional, loveseat & recliner (soft fabric)
4. Dining set, cooking utensils

So to my hornfans brethren - can I find any of these that are made in the U.S.A.?

Well if yu can't find anything made in USA (pisses me off when I read that...), go with a resale shop like St. Vincent De Paul or Goodwill or Salvation Army, or even a pawn shop.

Yeah, you may wind up with chinese crap, but at least they won't profit from it.

Yes, let's avoid the Cess Mall, but if you are willing to pay a tad more for Made in the USA in order to support the country, why wouldn't you buy from the exploited chinese grunts for less and pay a tad more in US taxes? That wasn't meant as a personal question of your priorities, but more of a philosophical question for all of us to consider.

A lot of quality furniture is made in the US, most of it in NC. I personally like Lee Furniture, although their website products seem more mod than when I last shopped. Good furniture lasts forever. Too bad you aren't going to High Point, NC. Perhaps there are outlets on the web though.

I couldn't find anything on either of the links that I buy. Do we make anything here anymore? Have unions ruined US manufacturing? (Slap me, Yo -

Don't want it going on a tangent but Yes Unions coupled with executive greed has ruined our manufacturing. Gawd, how many people can really afford a new truck now adays?

And beside our engineering principles suck in a lot of cases because of executive shortsided values. Auto manufacturers are the largest and biggest example of this.

But to get back on topic, I look for made in america too, but if another foreign company gets it over american made, than i spend my hard earned money on foreign.

off my soap box
