In watching the Signing Day press conference with Mack on LHN, I got the picture that DGB was courteous enough to give Mack a heads-up a few days in advance that he wasn't going to become a Longhorn, which in turn gave the staff the opportunity to go after one last guy.
In his presser, Mack mentioned...
1. That a school cannot sign more than 28 guys, which is the exact number that Texas signed.
2. The problem of pursuing recruits who make their choice on or near NSD, whose pending offers prevent coaches/schools from pursuing alternative recruits.
3. That some guys who Texas pursued (I'm guessing ME Jr. and DGB?) were courteous enough to let the coaches know in advance that they wouldn't be coming to Austin.
All of which leads me to believe that one of Bryce Cottrell or Dalton Santos or Torshiro Davis would not be Longhorn commits today if DGB hadn't let Mack know he would be signing elsewhere. So for that, DGB was a class guy for enabling Mack's staff go after someone else.
