Highlight:

--Most physical spring....doesn't he say this every year? Figure with Muschamp in the fold it's probably true.

--Best players will play regardless of class.

--DJ Monroe to start at WR

--No depth chart

--Committed to having Colt & Chiles in at the same time often.

--Lewis will play DT & DE

--Still no start time set for home opener in just 4 weeks.

Stevo, when you say best player will play regardless of class then say DJ will start at WR. Do you mean he'll start over Quan or Shipley or that he'll start out playing the WR position? Sorry for the confusion, I missed the press conference.

"DJ Monroe to start at WR"

Like...he is going to be a starting WR or that is the position they will give him the first look at?

edit: beaten

You're right. Sorry. Mack meant it in the context of it's the position he will start out at. Would like to see Monroe and Grant on returns at the same time.

I hope he sticks to what he said and plays the best players regardless of class. Looks like Monroe needs to be on the field for pure athleticism sake. He will make mistakes but it is worth it.

our most physical practice since we've been here. Where have I heard that one before. also, isn't this like the 7th year in a row that Mack's said he wants to get the 2nd string QB more PT?

Right, Prodigal, I wondered if he read it carefully. We've never seen both our quarterbacks on the field at the same time like Mack says he wants to see. And he said often. Can't wait.

LIA, I was just thinking about that, when/if it had happened before. I'm drawing a blank, and if it did, it certainly didn't happen with any regularity.

Regardless, other than VY/Mock, it's been a long time since doing it even made any sense. It'll definitely be interesting to see what it looks like.

My question is, is this a result of a really good offseason by Chiles or really mediocre showing by the running backs. My thinking is that the Ramonce Taylor move showed that Mack has never had a problem with tinkering with a backfield that's already strong.

Note that Mack didn't say the most talented player would start regardless of class -- that leaves a lot of wiggle room and differences of opinion on who is "best".

... because the most talented does not equal the best. Not playing our talent is not the problem we had, we did not play our BEST players all the time in the past.... that is the problem.

Mentioned they intend to ask for a 6th year for Shipley. Also says that Sergio will be practicing (along with Ishie, Aaron Lewis, and Eddie Jones); he didn't answer a specific question as to whether he is fully recovered, just that Muschamp needed to get comfortable with those 4 since they didn't participate in the spring.
