Oh happy DAY!!! Yup, it's officially game week. Thank you for all the hard work you do to get all this done for us.
 
I think maybe Texas does not cover this week. FAU has a very good passing attack and the horns are very young in the secondary with a brand new DC (and the corresponding transition problems at the start of a season). The horns win but there will be plenty for Will Muschamp to work on next week. should be a nice wakeup call type of game.
 
OK. Granted. I'm an addict when it comes to college football, but I'm kind of looking forward to the SMU - Rice game friday night. Living in Dallas I've been reading several articles about the June Jones era. I'm anxious to see them play.

However, the fact that Rice - SMU is on TV and UT isnt just isnt right.

As much as I love college football, I must admit that my off-season analysis is pretty limited, so your guess is certainly as good as mine. But, here are some gut feelings:

I like WF too. Briles need time and players.
I like OK St too. They'll have their **** more together.
Not sure about USC. That's a big line to cover with ? at Qb.
MI for sure. New coach, new season. They'll come out to avenge last season.
MSU is a safe bet over LA directional school.
I'm taking the Horns. I'm drinking the orange kool-aid.
Not so sure about Cal.
I like Mizzou.
I don't like Wazzou.
TN vs. UCLA. Don't really know, but I'd take UCLA to cover at home.

Wake Forest at Baylor 7:00 p.m. FSN (HD - DirecTV: 635, 663, 665, 676) (Wake by 12.5) – I’ll take Wake. I know there’s a lot of hope/hype surrounding Briles going to Waco but Wake is just a better team.
Oregon State at Stanford 8:00 p.m. ESPN2 (HD) (Beavers by 3) – I don’t see any reason not to take Oregon State here.

Friday, August 29th
SMU at Rice 7:00 p.m. (ESPN) (HD) (Rice by 3.5) – boring game over all but it’s football and it’s on TV. Take Rice because, well, I don’t know.

Saturday, August 30th
Syracuse at Northwestern 11:00 a.m. ESPN2 (HD) (NU by 11) – The Greg Robinson Death March continues. I think NU covers.
Hawaii at Florida 11:30 a.m. Raycom (HD) / ESPN-GP (Gators by 34.5) – Hawaii, remember when UGa ripped you a new one? Well, the Gators are going to gape that ***. Florida covers and we all get to see if the Tim Tebow Hypesman Campaign continues on yet again.
Oklahoma State at Washington State (Seattle) 2:30 p.m. FSN (HD) (Okie State by 6) – Conference pride (and being sick of hearing how great the PAC-10 is) has me cheering for the Cowboys. Wazzu is breaking in new coach. I think they’ll cover.
USC at Virginia 2:30 p.m. (ABC / ESPN2) (HD) / ESPN-GP (USC by 20.5) – The Trojans should cover.
Utah at Michigan 2:30 p.m. (ESPN2 / ABC) (HD) (Wolverines by 3) – I have no idea why Michigan is only a FG favorite
here. I’d take that in a second.*

Alabama vs. Clemson (Atlanta) 7:00 p.m. ABC (HD) / ESPN-GP (Clemson by 5) – Like a lot of people, I think the Tigers are overrated. If this game was @ Clemson, I’d give them a shot. ‘Bama covers. Hell, I’ll make this an upset special. The Crimson Tide win outright.
Michigan State at California 7:00 p.m. ABC (HD) / ESPN-GP (Cal by 4.5) – Take Tedford at home. Why? Why not?
Illinois vs. Missouri 7:30 p.m. ESPN (HD) (Tigers by 8.5) – Missouri’s the hot pick in the North. Right now, I see no reason not to expect them to win and cover.
Washington at Oregon 9:00 p.m. FSN (HD) (Ducks by 13.5) – Ty Willingham is a dead man walking. And starting the season on the road at Autzen is not the way to make the walk any easier. However, Oregon’s QB situation is in total disarray. So I’m gonna say that the Huskies cover but Oregon still wins.Sunday, August31stKentucky at Louisville 2:30 p.m. ESPN (HD) (Cardinals by 3.5) – UK has to replace Woodson at QB. UL has to replace Brohm. UK will miss Woodson more. UL covers.
Colorado vs. Colorado State (Denver) 6:30 p.m. FSN (HD) (Buffs by 11) – I hate rooting for Colorado. Hell, I usually root against them. But I think they cover.

Monday, September 1st
Fresno State at Rutgers 3:00 p.m. ESPN (HD) (Rutgers by 5.5) - Holy ****. When was the last time Rutgers was a home favorite versus a halfway decent team? What the hell, let’s call it for the Scarlet Knights.
Tennessee at UCLA 7:00 p.m. ESPN (HD) – (Vols by 7) – Transfer Kevin Craft is starting for Neweasel’s Bruins. I don’t really like Tennessee. They have to replace Ainge at QB too. But I really don’t like Neweasel. I dislike UCLA even more. The Vols cover.

* I realize now that Michigan is likely to blow it against Utah since they have to replace Hart, Henne and Manningham. But I made the pick and I'll stand by it.
