Hooker blew it with a very slow start. She couldn't recover and finished 4rth missing out on an Olympic spot in the 100 m.

Slow start. It was a non-start. Jumped straight up. She might make it as an alternate on the 4 x 400.

If she placed 4th, why wouln't she be the 4th starter on the 4x100 team?

No one said she wouldn't but I'd bet making the relay team was NOT her goal. Her chances at a medal were excellent in the individual 100. Bummer!

Maybe the coaches should be able to select a few "wild cards" when something weird happens in the Olympic Trials. Seems like every Olympics, some of our best hopes for gold medals don't make the team due to being bumped in a race, tripping, or some other strange occurance of bad timing that eliminates a favorite. Shouldn't someone who can break a world record make the event?

Kinda bad, but i'm hoping one person pulls out so Hooker can compete in the indvidual. She is gooooooood and has a great chance out of anyone to win Gold at Beijing!

Hopefully sister Destinee will join her in Beijing!
